Roberto Soldado

What experiment exactly? He was poor under AVB and has hardly been given a proper run out since - i could understand your stance guys if he had just had a run in the first team and continued his form from the beginning of last season - but that's not the been the case.

Soldado in the premier league.

Why has he hardly been given a run out though? The manager who see's him day in and day out has decided that other strikers we own are better suited to lead the line, and in his cup and Europa appearances thus far this season, Soldado has done nothing to prove him wrong. Players should be played on their merits. We shouldn't just throw players into the line up because fans 'hope' they will do well.

Sherwood brought Adebayor back in from the wilderness and he performed well enough to keep his position - simple as that really. Which means everyones an expert now and because Adebayor kept Soldado out of the team in the second half of the season it obviously just means Soldado is **** (rather than just it being a case of Ade was doing enough to keep his position)

Best drop Ade then, pretty gun shy ATM.

That's a fair view, Ade could have done better. I'd keep him on Saturday as it's against Arsenal and such things motivate him immensely, but if he doesn't pick up we should switch to our second most in form striker.

Harry Kane.

I've nothing against Harry getting a few games, but he's no more in form that Soldado. 2 goals each against the same opponents.

If we only judged players on form/merit Ade would have never been recalled to the team last season (after the 12 months prior of poor form and questionable attitude)

The quicker Adebayor leaves the club the better. The guys a cancer, ridiculous wages for mostly average performances. I'm sure he must have a clause in his contract that probably guarantees him starting every week.

Hope soldado starts on saturday

A bit of class from the spurs support there. As far as i was aware, Adebayor doesn't get paid much more than Soldado now that the additional wages from City have ceased. And why would we have cared about them anyway, it's not like they affected our club.

So where's the vitriol regarding Soldado's performances for the past year? They've been of a lower standard than Ade's.

The problem i have is that a big number of you seemingly have written him off - and as far as i can see it amounts to a poor run of games in what was a badly performing AVB team and then sitting on the bench whilst Adebayor played well - that to me is not enough evidence to call it the way you are (failed experiment etc)

As a £26m striker Soldado should be able to grab games and drag the rest of the team to victories, granted not against the bigger teams, but against the minnows. He should have the ability to create goals on his own, not require being spoon fed a large number of chances. Last season there were opportunities that he should have been scoring, but didn't, which was one of the reasons that the AVB team were so badly performing.

I've written him off because I just can't see anything there that we can use. He'll occasionally score goals, yes, but as a player he's not suited to the way we play. I don't see a player there who should be playing for a team challenging for the top four in the premier league.

I don't blame Soldado for being the player he is, this was a bad choice of transfer by the club.

You can't see anything there to use for the reasons ive already stated - he played in a bad AVB team and has since barely been involved with the first team.

Paying more money for a player doesn't turn them in to something they are not - Soldado, from what i have seen/read looks to get in behind and feed off of the intelligence of the attacking midfielders - play him with Lennon Townsend and Paulhino and you're dooming him before he's started - play him with Lamela, Eriksen & co and maybe we'll see what he's all about. And for me this team right now needs a CF who does that because Adebayor floating all over the shop leaving the opposition defence with nothing to worry about is not really working for me.

I could turn all of that round (aside from the clause in the contract bit) but replacing Adebayor with Soldado and vice versa.

Aside from taking penalties (which he is actually bloody good at!) what is it that Soldado has done at Spurs to make anybody think he is worth a place in the team? Even last night against Notts Forest's second string he was absolute dogsh!t (but did get lucky with a deflection into the net). If Adebayor had performed as Soldado did last night he would've been absolutely crucified on here.

F.I.B... i think there's plenty of support for Adebayor as well as criticisim for Soldado. I like Adebayor and was one of the few who backed him on here during AVBs first season - i now want a proper look at Soldado in our first team.

I think the reason Soldado gets 'let off' as you say is because we haven't yet seen him in our first team so people want to do before writing him off.

Do you want a proper look at him playing as the lone centre forward in Pochettino's 4-2-3-1?

Last year people bemoaned AVB (amongst other things) for not being flexible enough to change his system to accomodate certain players. Poch has very few options up top and it would make sense to at least try something different to see if we get different results. In pre season, Soldado, Lamela, Lennon and Eriksen looked really good together and had what looked to be a good understanding.

For me the idea of playing the high press is to create chances on the break, like with Kane last night. We caught Forest out and Lamela was able to drive at pace and deliver a pass behind their backline. We will be looking to score quickly after dispossessing the opposition and for me that means we need good passers, but also a good striker who will make early runs into good positions. Soldado for me offers that. I'll admit the guy isn't going to hold up the ball well, but we are looking to be the dominant team and pass it from front to back not hoof it long and work off of knock downs.

One thing is for sure though, we need all 6 players who are rotating through those three positions to work similarly. The movement between Chadli, Eriksen and Lamela has been great in some games and I think Soldado would do better with those three than Paulinho, Lennon and Townsend.

NottM Forest (not Notts) & why is he instinctively/intentionally sticking out his foot and steering the ball into the goal only a 'deflection'? It was a deliberate action - it didn't hit his buttock or something and happen to deviate past the keeper.

Sherwood also started Soldado too initially but he was dropped due to missing sitters galore.
