Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Re: Northumberland Development Project - CPO Now Granted!!!

With the rumours about a ground share during construction persisting thought I'd share this on here and bring back the debate of the part build, as I really don't fancy a ground tbh unless it's Wembley.

Wasn't the feasibility of that plan shot to pieces by the Sainsbury/UTC build?

Re: Northumberland Development Project - CPO Now Granted!!!

Irrelevant if they are spurs fans or not - no one likes being fleeced by Levy including me.

Just for I'm a tottenham fan doesn't make my wallet a free for all from them.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - CPO Now Granted!!!

Posted on SC earlier today, to do with Spurs' groundshare/s:

"Being based in the MK area, I had an interesting conversation with one of the stadium non sporting event consultants over the weekend. According to her, Tottenham Hotspur are finalising plans for moving out of WHL at the start of the 16/17 season. Subject to premier league AND Fifa approval, the aim is to play 14 league games at stadium MK, 4 at Wembley Stadium, and 1 in either Toronto or Chicago. The lady in question is most definately not bull****ting, but how accurate the information is that was passed on to her is anyones guess. She also said she had no idea as to where european and domestic cup games would be staged."

I presume you're talking about Archway?

Who says they were being fleeced?

From what I can gather, they're the ones who've been trying to do the fleecing.

Okay not fleecing. But wanting to do the best for themselves financially.

The point I'm trying to make is that it doesn't matter who they support - their priority will be themselves.

Not going to happen.

That idea would require Football Association and UEFA approval. Never going to happen.

Sounds like lazy speculation based on the NFL international games. The difference being that the teams own the league, rather than having a separate governing body. The FA would reject as easily as they did the Hull City renaming.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - CPO Now Granted!!!

Based on what? Haven't they been talking about shifting a round of game overseas for a few years now. This lets them dip their toe in the water at least.

The Premier League discussed the idea as an extra game for each team 5 or 6 years ago - 'Game 39'. It was formally rejected by The FA, with UEFA and FIFA also releasing public statements against it. Those views aren't going to change in the next couple of years. I doubt MLS would be particularly keen either.

It's a very dangerous precedent. Not one that would be casually agreed to without major soul searching in the game.

MK with Wembley for Arsenal, Chelsea, United and Liverpool seems likely to me.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - CPO Now Granted!!!

Ownership of Ground and Training Facilities

K.3. Each Club shall either own its Stadium and training facilities or have a legally enforceable agreement with its owner for its use by the Club, expiring not earlier than the end of the current Season.

Ground Sharing

K.4. No Club shall have or enter into a ground-sharing agreement unless the agreement contains a legally enforceable provision to the effect that the playing of the Club’s League Matches shall always take precedence over the activities of the other party to the agreement.

Ground Registration

K.5. Each Club shall register its Stadium with the Secretary and no Club shall remove to another Stadium without first obtaining the written consent of the Board, such consent not to be unreasonably withheld.

K.6. In considering whether to give any such consent, the Board shall have regard to all the circumstances of the case and shall not consent unless reasonably satisfied that such consent:

K.6.1. would be consistent with the objects of the League as set out in the Memorandum;

K.6.2. would be appropriate having in mind the relationship (if any) between the locality with which by its name or otherwise the applicant Club is traditionally associated and that in which such Club proposes to establish its Stadium;

K.6.3. would not adversely affect such Club’s Officials, Players, supporters, shareholders, sponsors and others having an interest in its activities;

K.6.4. would not have an adverse effect on Visiting Clubs;

K.6.5. would not adversely affect Clubs (or Football League clubs) having their registered grounds in the immediate vicinity of the proposed location;

and K.6.6. would enhance the reputation of the League and promote the game of association football generally.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - CPO Now Granted!!!

All the most radical ideas are routinely and universally rubbished at first, which is why I for one am not dismissing out of hand the notion that a game in Toronto/wherever could never happen.

Every business has to move with the times (football is VERY big business whether we like it or not) and the EPL 'product' (argh!) has become massively global. On top of that we keep hearing that 'soccer' is on the verge of a major breakthrough in the US, so it follows the Premier League would be foolish not to at least look at the massive possibilities of gaining a foothold in that potential 'market.'

Of course, for a thousand other reasons it may well never happen, but given Tottenham's established following in the States and the imperative to stay ahead of the game it would be more surprising to learn that Daniel has not at least been sniffing around to see what gives.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - CPO Now Granted!!!

External fixtures are out of order for me.

Anyone who makes a case for non-traditional fixtures should die. If they don't understand why they ashould suffer so, then they should die painfully.

That's what I said, but this isn't a whole round or an extra round this is one game where we won't have a home ground anyway. Perfect opportunity to dip your toe in the water and see if it works.

Who knew Francis Soyer was a Spurs fan?

Re: Northumberland Development Project - CPO Now Granted!!!

Had a look at the new stadium site from the Paxton Road this evening.

There's now a big hole which stretches most of the way to the new UTC building / Sainsbury's. It's 30-40 metres wide and maybe as much as two metres deep.

Site preparation coming on apace!

It does look imposing but I'm not sure such a design would be appropriate for Tottenham' new stadium, unless our club has some long standing link with the mining industry that I'm not aware of...

How about a mock riot streetscape, complete with burning buildings and smashed windows?
