***TOTTENHAM Vs STOKE - OFFICIAL OMT***

The whole team must take responsibility.

Sorry, but as a player, if you know its going wrong, and you dont dare venture forward and have a dig, then whats the point?

The purpose of the coaching team is to coach the players. Can you say that our players looked coached from corners and freekicks/

Said this before on transfer day but was barracked by a mod for being a "freeloader", as I didnt donate.

Apparantley its better for those who do donate, to not be able to use a site they have payed to use, so lurkers can lurk.

When the donate button is back I will definitely throw a few quid Scaras way as he has done a great job getting the forum up & running again.

BUT,it is a pain in the arsehole when you see 500+ guests in SN&V after a game and,as you say,the transfer window thus reducing the site to load a page at about 52 seconds

No, but Im sure the coaching staff are not screaming from the touchline:

"Louis.....LOUIS!! LOSE POSSESSION AGAIN!!!"
"Gareth....just ignore Brad when he's screaming for you to go wide, and jog through the middle"
" Everyone......pass it to Stoke players!!"

Players also have choices to make. Once they are on the pitch, the coaching staff cant do anything for them.

I have nothing against you, just a team and manager who think they belong at the top of the league and yet we witness non performances like these. If they dont want the criticism why do they spout off about how they belong there ie Bale, Modric etc when they cant put in match winning performances at the final run in. The same players will want to leave at the end of the season when they have shown they dont have the bottle themselves, Pathetic.

likewise, naturally.

thing is, we disagree that it was / wasn't a non-performance. personally i think we created enough to justify the win.

yep, it could be down to bottle - or confidence as a poster pointed out above. confidence isn't like physical fitness, you can't put a time scale when you'll get it back.

it's Harry's overall record with us - 4 home league defeats in 45 afaik - that gives me the confidence and the patience to call off the dogs until mid-May.

Anyone can make mistakes. The fact remains that our players look clueless - a fact amply demonstrated at corners and freekicks. I remember VDV being surprised at our lack of practice. Its as if Rednapp does indeed just say go our there and runaroound a bit (he could be Mike Reid in disguise!)

The same players looked like Barca not so long ago. Its a collective failure, not just the coaching staff

I'd agree with hotshot, off the bar, blocked shots, disallowed goal - when I saw 5 mins, I thought brick, we got fergy time! And we got the goal. We are not the bottlers we once were, we keep chasing.

I never thought they looked like Barca even when we were third. How many really convincing performances have we seen this season? Three maybe four. Apart from Saudi Sportswashing Machine, (where we got lucky) the only other teams we have beaten well - Bolton and Liverpol was when they had men sent off. Our players are better than most other teams. The conclusion: our coaches are brick

A questions I've asked: what would the same set of players be like with Ferguson in charge?

We wouldn't let 0-2 leads up that is for sure. We would certainly, definitely, be more organised. The fluid play that had people cooing over us in the middle of the season wasn't sustainable. You need a structured formation to fall back on. We don't have it. We can only attack with fluid runners, but simply lack set positions eg getting more than one player supporting down the wing or having a tight organised midfield and defense when defending. The fluid attacking worked as it was like playing cup games. But over a long season, our players haven't sustained the success.

In my view, not being better organised on the pitch and having less quality back up, is the difference between united and us.

Lets look on the brightside. We could have lost. chelski and liverscum could have won. The last few minutes today played massively in our favour. We GAINED a point on chelsea and liverpool. Even if we lose at Chelsea on sat they cant overtake us now. Lets be positive. We have Ade and Lennon to come back soon. Maybe some others will find form too. Perhaps we might score from a free kick and corner. Possibly we might get some well overdue luck. Who knows. Just clutching at straws really.....but COYS!
We haven't been competing with Chelsea and Liverpool. Just over a month ago we were 10 points ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea and 14 points ahead of Pool.

Another horrible, headless-chicken performance from Spurs tonight, that actually seemed to get worse as it went on; shapeless, clueless and, up until about the last five minutes, almost totally lacking any real determination to win. Without Bale and van der Vaart managing to link up with that flash of enterprise at the death, it'd have been another embarrassing defeat. This looks like a side who thought they were just going to coast to the end of the season. Actually, I take that back—they don't really look like a side at all at the moment; more a collection of individuals who happen to be wearing the same colour shirts ... which prompts me to give special mention to Saha, for whom even that didn't help, and Kranjčar, who nowadays seems to run as though he's just polished off two Christmas dinners, a bottle of claret and six pints of Guinness. Sorry, but having watched that this evening, I have got serious getting-torn-a-new-one fears for Saturday.

Edit: Our set-pieces really are seriously beyond a joke now.

OptaSpurs: 68 - In the last three Premier League games, Spurs have had 68 attempts on goal but have scored just two goals.

again. Its all down to the coaches. Our run was inspired by truely inspirational individuals being inspirational. Now that they are all not in form together, we have no structure to fall back on. And NO goals from set pieces. How can anyone blame anyone other than the coaches?

We have descended into a top 5 team...............at best.

We were a top 5 team 6 years ago under Jol.....................with WORSE players !!

Harry the Messiah ?

And some fans wonder why we are a laughing stock.
its relative. the whole league was worse 6 years ago , so its plausible the the standard of squad we have is close to what we had 6 years ago in relation to the reast of the league

that devils advocate point aside we are still in top 4 are we not? how have we descended into top 5 five?

i know your level of intelligence is high enough to NOT base it on form only , in which case at one point united won 1 game in 5 this season and anyone calling them a top 5 team is quite frankly utterly thick. same applies with us if people are stupid enough to think that bad form and low confidence means that our team was never any good in the first place while we were winning considerably well

some people dont have the stomach for a premiership league battle. first sign of a string of bad results and they start jumping ship. there's a word for fans like that

Horrible luck in the last few games. I believed there isn't such thing as luck. Because that means you don't believe you have the power to change something. But the way that Stoke goal went in, the Everton offside, the way the last few games have gone for us and Arsenal... you got to think that someone is poking fun at us from above.

Still what can you do. It's just a game. Right?

Fair enough result. Stoke played 2 narrow banks of 4 and invited up to go wide knowing that Huth and Shawcross would head everything away.
It was very hard to create anything through the centre, with Stoke blocking passes and shots.

You can't expect us to play like Barcelona against a team that sets up against us like that. But on another day we might of stole a win.

Disgraceful, absolutely disgraceful.

Didnt even celebrate the equaliser, because it simply wasn't good enough.

Were now behind arsenal after holding a 10 point lead on them, that is disgusting.

Same as u mate. Although I'd obviously be more fcuked off with us losing, goes without saying.

Maybe we have been over achieving for 6 months.......

Yep. I was at the game and I didn't celebrate it much, point wasn't good enough for us we needed 3.

Not just drawing at home to Stoke, but scraping a draw in stoppage time at home to Stoke!
