Who's in and who's out- tactics 2014/2015

so a:

1) Energetic left back
2) An imposing CB
3) Creative playmaker with the ability to run with the ball
4) A very mobile, energetic front man in the Remy mould.

1. Daley Blind
2. Joleon Lescott
3. Diego Ribas
4. Well - why not Remy himself?

And the transfer fees for the above would probably be covered by the sales of Livermore and Siggy.

For centre half options I also wouldn't mind any of:
Winston Reid from West Ham
Curtis Davies from Hull (who I thought was brilliant last season)
Or perhaps Ashley Williams from Swansea.

Agree with all with the possible exception of #4.

Poch seemed to use big ol' Rickie Lambert up front quite a lot. When Southampton spent a lot of money on a striker it was Osvaldo, not quiet Lambert in style, but no Remy mould player either.

And one of our big shortcomings for me this season was our lack of a physical presence up front when Ade wasn't playing.

I'm thinking more Lukaku than Remy.

We have a ton of central midfielders, I would sell

Livermore
Holtby
Sig
Sandro

Keep

Paulinho
Dembélé
Benteleb
Carroll
Capoue

Yep maybe you're right and i'd be ecstatic about Lukaku.

I actually think Holtby will be rejuvenated under Poch. I really do. I can see a midfield three consisting of Holtby, Sandro and Paulinho (perhaps a new midfielder) with Eriksen and Lamela running things infront of them. Excited.

Not sure I'd agree Milo. He demonstrated to me on several occasions that he has the body strength to hold the ball up. Im not saying he's Drogba-esque but certainly wouldnt dismiss that area of his game just yet anyway...

I'm not saying that he can't do it but it is not playing to his strengths. I was quite impressed with him when he drifted wide and got involved in the build up play under Sherwood, I wonder whether he could be developed in this way.

One thing is certain, Poch will be very familiar with him and will know immediately whether he wants him for the coming season.

I agree but he will need to improve his discipline and reading of the game.

Who's in? Any chance at all we could somehow get Luke Shaw now? Wonder how much of a factor Pochettino could be

Lamela wont last the summer. He's not gonna turn into the pressing winger Pooch wants regardless if they're both Argentinian. Poch will know this, he doesn't need to give him time.

Actually Lamela played a pressing shadow striker role for Roma off Osvaldo. He is hard working and tracks back a lot more than his rep suggests

Being a Roma fan, I can agree with this. He is a lot better than some give him credit for in regards to tracking back and defending.

It'll be interesting to see how quickly he'll get his system working. By all accounts it's a high tempo pressing game- but with the World Cup our trio of Belgians won't be around for a large part if pre season or Bentaleb or Eriksen or paulinho.

And with Europa league Mauricio will have to deal with the pressure of the games coming thick and fast with no time in between. What we need us everyone in before pre-season and certainly no late than the end of the World Cup.

Think holtby may get a chance with poch but not sure Siggy fits in to the high pressing game.

Not sure how Lamela will fit in or whether Lennon will still be in- he does work very hard so might fit in the new poch era.

Wondering whether we'll see more of Carroll Pritchard Fredericks in the Europa this coming season?

Cant see Ade having much of a future at Spurs. Can Poch really turn him into a hard-working CF who harasses the defenders?!?

I don't think we need a massive overhaul this summer, but do need (i) a new CB, (ii) sort out our LBs by probably selling one and signing one and (iii) sort out our imbalanced CMs but selling one or two and signing a creative CM

I'm interested to see how Poch views Lennon and Townsend, and who he feels has the natural talent, and the potential that can be unlocked... I appreciate Lennon is 27, but ..

My predictions for our squad next season (not necessarily my own opinions just what I think Pochettino will think):

DEFINATE KEEPERS

Lloris
Freidel (even if it's semi retired player coach role)
Vertonghen
Dawson
Chiriches
Walker
Rose
Bentaleb
Dembele
Paulinho
Holtby
Eriksen
Kane

MAYBES/QUESTION MARKS

Archer
Fryers
Naughton
Sandro ( Fitness issues and Does he use the ball well enough for Pochs system?)
Capoue (see above)
Carroll
Pritchard
Lennon
Townsend
Sigurdsson
Chadli
Lamela
Adebayor
Soldado

LIKELY TO GO

Kaboul
Assou-Ekotto

WILDCARDS/COULD GET NEW LEASE OF LIFE

Livermore (home grown quota, midfield pressing engine, improving as a player)
Falque (good season on loan, hard working and good user of the ball)

I'm possibly one of the few who reckons there's a pretty decent player in Rose somewhere and Poch may be the man to eke it out.

I think we need two centre halves (to replace Dawson & Kaboul), a left-winger like Lallana if we can get him, and a striker like Bony or Lukaku (with us selling off Soldado). If Poch decides he can do without any of Sig, Capoue, Holtby, that's fine by me too.

I'm amazed at the people who still think there is a player in Dembele, guy is a boosted version of Jenas, all the tools, none of the brain to be a top tier footballer.

To me, Livermore, Gomes, Dembele, Siggy, Townsend, BAE, Friedel go - should be a nice wage reduction

GK - Lloris, +1
FB - Walker/Naughton, New LB/Rose
CB - Vert, Vlad, Kaboul, Dawson
DM - Sandro, Capoue/Bentaleb
RM - Lamela/Lennon
CM - Paulinho/Holtby
LM - Eriksen/Chadli
FW - Ade/Soldado

with Kane, Carroll, Pritchard, Falque, Fryers as developing and/or out on loan

That's really with a +1 to first team

A creative midfielder for alongside Eriksen and a true LW option are two other considerations

CB or Striker options should really be based on if the right upgrade/cover is available for the right price.

In:
Lescott
Cole
Lallana
Remy

Cost about £35 million

Out:
Naughton
Rose
Dawson
Livermore
Lennon
Sigurdsson

Receive about £25 million

Net Spend: £10 million

Keep Assou-Ekotto and Holtby. Send Tom Carroll and Zeki Fryers both out on loan for one year.

Would love to see this team (unlikely though):

----------------Lloris----------------------

--Walker----Lescott--Vertonghen----Cole--

------------Paulinho--Dembele-------------

----Lamela--------Eriksen-------Lallana----

-------------------Remy-------------------

I think that the big draw back with Soldado is that he is poor with his back to goal. I think that his build up play looked good on occasions under Sherwood, so maybe he could drop back into rhe Rodriguez roll.

i think this is accurate on his ability in a possession based game in the premier league
i dont think he would be much use to us in a Rodriguez's position on the whole
