Roberto Soldado

Re: Official - Soldado

If anything I think he wants it too much....his finishing compusure wise is so different europa league compared to the league......

Its a mental thing with him......just got to get into his head......'you have the quality' stop snatching at your chances'

if anything solly is putting to much pressure on himself.....he needs to relax.....I have no doubts the goals will come soon....he has the knack of knowing where to be....he could have had 7-8 goals recently and I dont think thats an exaggeration....

Lord Sugar ‏@Lord_Sugar 33m

Latest David Moyes assured transfer funds available for #MUFC in January ......can he buy Soldado please from THFC

Re: Official - Soldado

Ok he has not set the world alight but there is alot to be taken from his recent performances in my opinion...

- His runs
- Bringing others into play, very neat and tidy
- Positions, gets in some very good ones

I think the finishing will come because his record pre Tottenham was great and I believe it will be with us (Villa goal was class).....

Ultimately I believe in my own judgement on players and not by the press or panic or bias, the guy has had to reinvent himself twice this season and for me looks a danger now he plays with Ade, his season started when Ade partnered him in my opinion...

Re: Official - Soldado

the thing that is most frustrating at the moment is that he cannot even seem to hit the target. He has had chances at Sothampton, at home Stoke and away to le **** and he keeps dragging them wide or blazing them over. Maybe he needs one to go in off his ass to get something going. He is way more involved in play now and has a nice pass and eye on him really. But the thing i thought he woudl bring to the team was composure in front of goal and that seems to be the one thing he is lacking the most at the moment.

Re: Official - Soldado

Oh Mr sugar really does have too much time on his hands and says the stupidist things for someone with so much exposure in relation to the club.

Pressure changes everything, the guy is accustomed to being successful, he knows more than anyone he should have put away those chances.

This is where TS has to go (similar to his Ade talk), we know you can finish, you are our finisher for the rest of season, let it come.

To someone in the post's earlier point, judgment on a lot of players has to take a bit of a reset now.

Actually it reminds me a little of Defoe in that when he goes on a barren spell he tends to shank a lot of his efforts. In training these guys would score these chances 10 times out of 10. The man needs to relax a little in front of goal and they'll start flying in.

Absolutely.

There's an old saying in golf that any idiot can slice, but it takes a golfer to hook.

I think pulling the ball like Soldado is doing is a very good indication that tension is the problem. You just close yourself off as you strike the ball and scuff across it. Lack of technique would be more likely to see you slicing it - leaning back, head up, not committing through the ball. I think his shooting problems are the former. Tension, lack of confidence etc., but it's all there for him to turn around.

If Sugar thinks someone's **** it's extremely likely that he's actually very good.

Re: Official - Soldado

Time to drop Soldado? He appears to have already cost us £15m too much. If we miss out on CL, because of his ineptitude, then Soldado will have cost us far too much!!

This is more a question and thinking aloud rather than anything, I want him to work out with us but the situation doesn't appear to be improving.

Re: Official - Soldado

Still just needs to get a couple of goals in the PL and get his confidence up. He'll be good, just give the lad some time.

Imagine Ade picking up an injury and is out for 56 weeks just after defoe has played his last match for us leavins Soldado as our one fit striker, scary or what?

How much time? I'd prefer to drop Adebayor than Soldado but that's in hope Soldado hits the level that we think he is capable of reaching.

Re: Official - Soldado

Had me worried for the first time today. He's not got the physique, the pace or the playmaker ability. Doesn't create chances for himself and doesn't seem to click with anyone out there.
He's got it in him, I'm sure, but perhaps not with this team. Hope he proves me wrong as a Webb though.

Re: Official - Soldado

I think today was the worst game I've seen him have. Complete lack of interest from him, and I think he's played fairly well in the games previous (Utd away for example). Today was the first time I have really felt like it's just not gonna work out for him. I really hope he proves me wrong.

Re: Official - Soldado

His worst game in a Spurs shirt I think.

For me he's been quite positive since Sherwood took over, one poor game doesn't change that.

For me it should be between him and Ade for a start as a lone striker against Swansea, but for Sherwood it will most likely be two strikers and as long as we start two and Defoe has already been sold it's a pretty obvious decision to start Soldado alongside Ade.
