Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

But will he stick around that long?
I've no doubt he sees us as a stepping stone.

I think so. AVB strikes me as the type to want to achieve things before the end of his career - if he really does want his career to be brief then he only has time for one real project.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Been saying it but we've not looked half as defensively sound as our defensive record made out - we've played easy teams this season and still looked wide open every time they've attacked, were currently being completely taken apart by a decent team. 3-0 at half time, what will the final score be? We've looked absolutely clueless, complete embarrassment!

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

People have been sacked for less then today. If he had anything about him he would do the decent thing and resign. But you do not get that sort of behaviour anymore, i blame Tony Blair.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

I wouldnt sack AVB just yet but perhaps someone ie. Baldini could have a word in his ear and tell him to perhaps throw his 'playbook' away and actually use some initiative and be braver. Change things around. Unleash the players. Let them 'run around'.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Been reluctant to say it but I'm doubting him big time.

People make the excuse that we aren't scoring goals but he's sorted the defence out. He hasn't. The only reason we hadnt conceded many goals is because we keep possession more now than we used to. As soon as our defence is stretched in any way we go to pieces.

So he hasn't sorted the defence to start with. As far as I can see all he's done so far is made us more boring and less creative.

Just as I write this City score to make it 6-0. Great.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

flawed tactics

no heart in the team

players look like they are regressing

humiliation

Thanks avb =D>

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Thanks Agent AVB for ruining us, you want to go back to Chelsea now?

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

id rather have Ian Holloway in than put up with this garbage football

possession based game???? walob!!!!....just like a catwalk model, looks nice but you know that she is gonna be sh!t in the sack

ive never seen a worse Tottenham team from an attacking point of view...heck even under Graham we had Ginola providing some thrills for a season or two. ow we are utter garbage up front and when tested at the back we are spineless

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

I'd be quite happy to see him sacked tonight

Agree. We're getting worse and worse under him, 9th place, 6 goals from open play in 12 games, unfortunately we don't have a world class player to bail us out this year and its showing. We have zero attacking threat and there are no signs that things are improving. OK we made a lot of changes in the summer but the squad have been together for 3-4 months and there's no system or understanding. If AVB stays in charge we don't look like we have any chance of finishing top 4. He needs to go

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Come on AVB fan club, explain how that is us moving forward.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Pretty much the final straw for me, I'd be fine if AVB was shown the door tonight. 18 months of a handful of great performances, plenty of mediocre performances with Bale magic and too many stinkers for my liking, he's not working.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

What was masked last season by the brilliance of one has been shown in stark contrast this season by the mediocrity of many.

The difference was one player, unfortunately, not the manager.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

F#ck it.

Pull the trigger tonight. Freund as caretaker for Thursday if needbe. Still in the cups, for the time being, get a new man in for December, gets a month to access the squad followed by the Jan window for a few ins/outs.

Kneejerk possibly, but its getting worse by the week, how long do we wait?

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

I also wouldn't be too distressed if he's gone tonight. Abject. And its been coming all season. We've been absolutely turgid for ages, now the veneer of a supposed good defensive record has been emphatically ripped off.

Where the hell do we go from here? There are no sings, absolutely no signs of improvement. We're going in the other direction at a rate of knots.

This.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

It's a tricky one. Give the manager time, give the team time to gel? Ok, but there needs to be signs of progress. We are going backwards and the strange thing is, we arguably deserve less points than we currently have based on the level of our league performances this season.

If we are to give him time, then how much? If the season turns to disaster, then our best players will want out, causing us to slide further back.

then, if we sack him, there are no guarantees the new man is a success either

So, it comes down to what the biggest risk is...New man doing worse, or AVB not improving and having a 'mare of a season, resulting in best players going and further rebuilding.

We can afford to miss out on Champions League. We can't afford to become an also-ran and mid-table.

Based on his history, I think Levy will pull the trigger soon. We are peforming to a level that is below the standards of the players we have bought in. We have quality internationals in this squad; Argentina, France, Belgium, Spain, Brazil. Players that have proven themselves in top European Divisions. they didn't all become bad players over night. Collectively, they are under-performing and this is down to AVb and AVB only.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

I'm starting to lose faith, which is downheartening. AVB doesn't seem to know how to make a team score goals. All the problems we have this season we had last season as well, but last season we had the best striker of the ball in the world in our team. 9 goals in 12 games is AMAZINGLY awful for a team with players like Tottenham have.
