Willian

We dont need a winger, we have a host of them now

Im talking about the 2nd striker role in which Hernanes plays amazingly well.

but Willian will be signed to play out wide. That is where he plays. That is where we need our creativity.

The centre is overcrowded with monsters in the mould of Sandro, Capoue, Dembele, Paulinho. Our creativity needs to come from out wide, the David Silva, Juan Mata, Santi Cazorla type players that will come in and cause havoc creating a **** load of chances for Soldado and others around him, Willian would provide that.

looking over twitter and most Chelsea fans dont even want Willian.

I wonder if something has been lost in translation somewhere. Chelsea linked with Eto'o who is Anzhi player... someone has heard Chelsea after Anzhi player and put a bet on Chelsea to be Willians next club on Sky Bet.. Sky Sports think someone is ITK and have made up bull saying Chelsea have made a bid for Willian, everyone has jumped on it as gospel. Like I said last night, has anyone legit come out and said Chelsea have bid? Willian? Willians agents? Chelsea? AVB? Mourinho?

Apparently @gregstobart has come out and said he is in contact with 2 of them

you may be right with all that

i think all the doubts started when Willian himself said he was "considering his options"

It hasn't been confirmed by any of the clubs, agents or Willian in public at least.

However much more reliable journalists than Sky Sports have been saying that there has been a bid and that the deal to us is in real danger. Greg Stobart who generally gets quite a few things right about Spurs and seems to have contacts and isn't someone to jump on a bandwagon. Di Marzio who seems highly rated and not a bull**** merchant.

The evidence for there being a bid from Chelsea for Willian seems close to being as solid as the evidence supporting our negotiations with Roma for Lamela and the Bale to Madrid negotiations.

but how much does he actually know? I know he works at goal but that should be enough indicator. He knows if he mentions this story he could potentially get some nice publicity for goal.com -- I personally think he's about as good as Sky Sports when it comes to all of this, he's been roped in by the whole "Willians next club: Chelsea" on Sky Bet and thought of it as gospel. People who believe gstobart usually have jumped on it and think it's all true.

But has ANYONE close to the deal ie Mourinho, Chelsea, Ambromovich, AVB, Tottenham, Willian or his agents come out and mentioned ANYTHING regarding Chelsea?

i think Chelsea were always going to finish ahead of us this season, Willian or no Willian

Really? I don't see that they are that far ahead of us to be honest, considering our potential signings and theirs. Even if they got Rooney I think we'd have a good shot.

Di Marzio on Twitter who seemed pretty well connected to the whole thing.

I don't agree tbh mate. I mean i think he's a very good player and his use of both feet ranks up there with the best in the world imo (he's incredible on both feet) but he's rather slow and not particularly creative.

Di Marzio isnt always accurate and has shown he can change his information when it suits him...if we everything DiMarzio had originally had come true then Bale would now be in Madrid, Coentrao would be at Spurs and Willian and Lamela would be getting changed for training at Hotspur Way right now

he says we are pretty much confirmed to getting Lamela, so I hope he's right.

saw this on twitter though:

"Spurs have sent his registration off to the FA and he has a VISA hearing today regarding Willian. Chelsea have like 5% chance of getting him."

Been over to see Lazio alot in recent years and he ranks up there with the best they have had for a while, that said its not hard haha, but no seriously he pulls strings in that side, with the pace we already have in the side he would fit in for my money

It would be strengthening Chelsea but if the rumours are true that they'd be getting rid of Mata it's weakening them despite them potentially getting Rooney too. With every strength Chelsea may go too, it looks like Arsenal are getting weaker, it all evens itself out.

I just hope Spurs fans in general can forget and stop focusing about other teams in the league and just sort of focus on the team they love and support and be happy that we are moving in the right direction with brilliant signings and so far promising results.

If they get rid of Mata it doesn't help us, they've stopped us getting a quality player, probably gained Rooney in that deal and strengthened Man United. All the while we are left behind. It doesn't even out. The natural order is maintained. The reason we have been able to finish above Liverpool for the past few years is in no small part down to the fact that we strategically stop them getting their prime targets. You can't just focus on your own team because you are in a league competing with others and what they do is important. Because we looked like we were seriously strengthening, you can bet the top 4 from last season sat up and thought '****, we need to do better', just like we would if Liverpool or Everton starting looking quite dangerous.

We've made great signings and improved and I'm really happy about it, it should maintain us in at least 5th. But it doesn't mean much overall if our rivals strengthen even more.

Oh i agree he definitely pulls the strings in that team and is the stand out player. Don't you think is more dangerous coming from a cm position and unleashing those devastating shots rather than starting from an am position and threading through balls?

I don't see how being always accurate is a fair bar to set for a journalist working in the circus of information and misinformation that is the transfer window. Unless you want to only rely on confirmed transfers as your source of news about transfers no one will be accurate all the time.

I quite like his style, most of what he's said about Lamela, Willian and Bale so far has been about negotiations going on.

Thing with willian is tha he is expensive. Thirty big ones. If we don get him, there's still a lot of cash that can be meaningfully used to strengthen the team.
