Michael Dawson

Change our system, not change the team. An important difference.

As Michael Cox at the Guardian said, this was the first time Spurs had started with three centre-backs playing in position in Redknapp's entire reign.

unlike some people on this board, I never claim to know what the management of the team issue as team orders, but what I did state was that it never crosses anyones mind that it might be something they were told to do.
My comments were based on the mindless criticisms of a solid and dependable defender, who not so long ago was feted and adored by all on here and other followers alike.

So why don't you stop trying to score points like a mindless smartarse, and actually try to understand my point of view - before slating me for one I dont hold - or have never expressed.

No it didnt cross our minds Mick, because after he was told to stop doing it, he still continued to. I thought that would have been blatantly obvious.

You have an absoulute cheek asking anyone to stop trying to score points, especially when you try and put your point of view across by saying the previous comments are mindless and people are trying to be smart arses when you do it yourself. Maybe its something you have been told to do ? You couldnt possibly do that on your own.

you lost your right to participate in any kind of level headed conversation on the subject when it became clear that you just chose it as another vehicle to express your prejudices against Dawson and Redknapp. Whilst you are incapable of shaking that mindset, we are never going to agree or have a sensible discusssion.

You will just have to accept that I'm not prepared to sit by and watch people pouring vitriolic abuse on players, based on a platform of mindless disapproval, without substance or reason.

Dawson does far more good as a defender than he ever does bad, yet you treat a game like this as if he was there to do nothing more than sabotage our chances of winning, and the only thing you can do is to come up with the argument that Dawson continued to play long balls out of defence after being told to stop. Which you would have used as another launchpad for scorn, had he allowed himself to be caught in possession on a bog of a pitch against a fired up team of industrial standard footballers running on more hormones than a pubescent schoolgirl. You however are such a feckin expert, that you know better than Dawson, about what he should or shouldn't do in every circumstance. This isn't some electronic game you know, its the real thing, and the lanscape changes constantly throughout a game.

For some reason this is the one player that you focus on, despite the fact that no-one covered themselves in glory, playing in a cup game where it was always going to be difficult, in an experimental line up, with players new to the team. In terms of what they are capable of, Parker had a far worse game than Dawson, as did Bale - where's the even handed treatment of them?

You also express the view that the manager is clueles and should go for the benefit of the club, despite being the most successful manager in the clubs history(results wise) and producing the best footballing side (that I certainly have) seen since the late 1960's.

Bullet makes a point of being a smartarse as much as he can at my expense, it would appear that I am his bete noir, so I am at liberty to respond when he posts coments I have made, out of context.
You might think I'm being a smartarse, but you can rest assured that I'm not (trying to be) - its just that supporters who do nothing but carp and whine, and act like they know better than the clubs pro's and the manager - tinkle me off beyond measure. Because in my view its mindless, boring and poorly educated criticism. You weren't there, you didn't play and you just sat on your fat arse in the comfort of your own home, spitting feathers.

Go you

What annoys me alot, is that had Saha's goal stood, and we won, I truely believe this thread wouldnt exist. Certain people let a result influence their whole perceprtion of a specific performance.

Like the 0-0 at Anfield, people saying they waltzed through our midfield for 90 minutes, and other such nonsense, proven to be bullsh#t by the very stats they demanded to see ](*,). Had Bale scored the one on one, would there have been people whining about a supposed hole in the midfield that didnt exist?

Dont think so.

It makes me feel that certain people actually want certain players to play poorly, or certain formations to fail, just so they can start a thread. Pathetic.

Wriggly - it's ok

We played very well, and all the blame can be shifted to the pitch, the ref, the groundsman, the parking lot guards, the cleaners, the moles in the ground, Pep Guardiola, Twitter, Robbie Keane, Scara's failed SQL, and Juande Ramos's ketchup embargo.

;)

hahaaha spot on! .. some people just refuse to believe that, sometimes, we play badly and fail to win against opposition we should demolish..

get a grip totman.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with constructive criticism (Wriggly's initial comment was OTT but the point remains) of players who come short in certain games instead of blatantly choosing to ignore the apparent shortcomings in certain performances (Liverpool away). We all want the team to improve and move forward. Burying heads in the ground and referring to games 2 seasons ago to justify someone's inclusion on the team makes little sense to me

Unless of course we turn this into a communist style pro-positive propaganda tool and eliminate all personal opinion on matters where people come and command what you can and should say. :D

Did I say we played well? I think the entire team, bar Lennon, was fairly awful, Dawson included.

I have no idea what "point" you are trying to make. Maybe you should get a grip of whats being said.

Also, in regards to "constructive criticism", do people mean this?

Hoof's I counted.

That was the opening post to this thread.

Neither have I, at any point said that this was a glorious performance

unlike some of the carping smart alecs, I have seen enough FA cup football to know that games like these happen, you don't get wound up about them, and annoying as the replay often is - we will go on to hammer them.

Some people however, will look for any reason to slate their least favourite player - or poster

without having the balls - in some posters case, to deal with a discussion personally.

You really are turning into everything that Sheik Ma Nuggets said you were.

I now realise that the only reason I stuck up for you was that I dislike SMN's arrogance so much it clouded my judgement.

If he ever comes back on the board, I will swallow my pride and apologise to him.

Factually correct, straight to the point, no beating around the bush.

Would you like a novel ?

Believe me, If we won 0-1 I would be happier of course, but the Daws thread about his lack of intelligence would certainly exist today.

Out of interest - did you actually have a pen and paper counting during the game?

Erm, at the risk of sounding sad and a tad stalkerish, I count his hoof's every game. I've left threads and posts in the past about it and havent stopped counting them since.

it comes down to the pitch imo. was a cow pasteur more like.

hard to pass the ball on the deck when it bounces a foot every time.

I could understand had he not played superbly against Everton, Liverpool and Saudi Sportswashing Machine, in the last month since he's been back from injury.

But, one game, where the entire team (bar Lennon) were poor, and you start with this?

Thats your right, but it annoys some people, and its their right to point it out. People trying to disguise an irrational dislike for a player behind "constructive critiscism", that was born out of watching Dawson for 90 minutes, and jotting down every single one of his clearances.

Had you paid more attention to the game as a whole, you'd actually see that he was no worse than anyone else. Did we concede? Did he make glaring errors at the back? Did he get caught out, or make mistakes?

No, so why the thread. Because you dislike him, and you havent been able to slag him off for 6 weeks, because he's been excellent.

Like I said, its pathetic.

Who says I lost my right to participate ? You ? Were you laughing while typing that, or just looking down your very long nose at me ?

While some may tinkle you off beyond measure at thinking we know better than the clubs manager and pro's, you tinkle some off beyond measure at your better than everyone else attitude.

p.s. I certainly do not have a fat arse.
