***TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Leeds OMT***

The actual explanation when They admit they got it wrong will be interesting
I think it’s completely indefensible as a decision
I’ve seen people say he didn’t mean it… but that doesn’t matter
I don't think they can admit it's wrong.
It'll be a fudged political statement that uses the rules the justify the decision.

I do have a cunning solution..... bring back proper shin pads and ankle supports allow the kind of contact that now sees a red card and use force and/or appearance of being deliberate (the old "professional foul") as a metric.

Should Bogle be a red? Who the f knows anymore.
Was it just how his body moved whilst running in? Did he leave a foot out that he could has redirected? Yes. No. Maybe. Definitely. Possibly.

15 years ago was it a yellow? Yes. Nailed on. No second guessing from the ref about whether it's a red or nothing (clearly ridiculous to have that argument!). Less injury risk for Tel because he'll have better body protection.
It's very possible Bogle was trying to pull out of clattering Tel - I think he probably did that but also "left a bit on him". It's also possible he expected Tel's trailing leg to have gone.
All of those if's/bits/maybes created the red Vs nothing conversation based on information and interruptation that's unknowable. Make it clear yellow - we are talking about a sport where hacking used to be a legitimate part of the game.

It absolutely should have been a red - Tel didn't move his left foot from before Bogle moved in, the onus is on Bogle to be aware of where he's moving towards surely? That makes it reckless. The fact it resulted in a studs up achilles stamp makes it dangerous. Nevermind he then also fouled Tels right foot on the follow through as well.

Should have been a red + a yellow 😂

If you have fact checked that perhaps you could send that onto the Club. It’s telling.
Oh it gets better - I've just heard (apologies if already mentioned) that it was the same ref yesterday who sent off our very own Xavi Simons vs Liverpool for that almost identical challenge.

You just couldn't make it up....

Also the one who red carded Romero v Liverpool for two yellows in a match where he didn't commit a foul.

Tbf lots of people on here were saying Xavi shouldn't have been sent off

Play that gif. At the point Bogle takes off (both feet off the ground = reckless), the ball is in front of Tel. Bogle intentionally sends his left foot to the achilles, and one to the ball, and lands legs apart (unnatural position if you are going for the ball). That is so intentional to hit the achilles it's not even debatable.

The thigh high one was a yellow
That’s what I saw in real time
Couldn’t see how that was missed

My stance is I don't actually think a challenge like that is a red, but it's clearly at the very least a yellow. To give nothing is crazy and considering the standard of what constitutes a red these days if the ref had been sent to the screen he would have 100% sent him off.

Again I don't really think those sort of challenges are reds, I didn't think it when Xavi got sent off, I didn't really think it was for Mateta last week or Bogle yesterday but to give not even a yellow is disgraceful and again by the standards of today that is typically given as a red.

John Brooks has reffed 15 Premier League games involving Tottenham Hotspur
In those 15 games he showed Spurs 36 Yellows and 4 Reds
He showed the opposition teams 11 Yellows and 0 Reds the same 15 matches.
If you have fact checked that perhaps you could send that onto the Club. It’s telling.
The Actual Totals (10 Premier League Games)
  • Tottenham Hotspur: 27 yellow cards (or 29 if counting the second yellows shown to Yves Bissouma against Luton Town and Cristian Romero against Liverpool) and 3 red cards (Bissouma at Luton, plus Romero and Xavi Simons against Liverpool).
  • Opposition Teams: 23 yellow cards and 0 red cards.
  • The 15-game figure comes from lumping in matches where Brooks acted as the Fourth Official or VAR, then attributing the on-pitch referee's cards to him while stripping out cards shown to the opposition.

Ah yes, that time Bissouma got a (deserved) second yellow card for a dive that regularly goes unpunished whenever teams in red tries it.

Yep, it didn't look natural to me either. Farke, immediately afterwards, had a speech ready and said Bogle was their 'softest' player, that he would be the last player to intentionally injure someone, and that he (Farke) frequently has to urge him to be more physical and aggressive.

I suspect Farke and Co. game planned for Tel. They likely figured (rightly so, sadly) he was our main offensive threat. Neutralize or eliminate him, and their chances to win go up exponentially. Sure enough, Tel had a good first half, was causing them problems, making them uncomfortable.

Its been discussed a few times in here how we lack goals in the team, and how we have players with little or no end product. If we know that, then other teams know it too and prepare accordingly.

Didn't Tel have to go off injured after that challenge? that should be enough for a red card.

This is what I still can’t wrap my head around. Apparently Xavi and Mateta are more dangerous when they barely clipped someone because the ball moved at the last second, compared to Bogle who actually forced our player off. All because of some standing leg or not excessive force argument. It’s just ridiculous.

Absolutely robbed. Like last week it was early in the game and we'd have worn them down most likely. BUT we have to beat these kinds of teams 11 against 11. And RDZ's approach is right, we have to look at ourselves.

There are no corner stones in our forward line. None of the players are settled or in form and it has been chop and change ever since Son.

It’s a huge part of the jigsaw puzzle of rebuilding the squad; it is a disgrace that we didn’t get it in place early in the summer. That needs to be righted on Day 1 of the January window.
