My image of Rupert Lowe is of an angry, racist yet sad little man bashing away at a keyboard day in and day out to come up with a new Restore policy that will be implemented on day 1/immediately Restore come into power (haha) for everything that annoys him - as long as it’s only related to non-white people (but presumably with the exception of his daughter in law - although maybe not).

No they don't, or at least not any poll carried out by a serious polling agent and not commissioned by the comic that is The National.
Even the dyed in the wool separatist Wings Over Scotland (the only one worth listening to) admits they have no chance.

There won’t be a united Ireland in the lifetime of anyone posting on this forum today. There is not enough will on either side of the border, the Republic of Ireland couldn’t afford it, and that’s only two reasons of many more of both a practical and economic nature.

I remember Martin McGuinness saying in the early 1980s he’d see it well within his lifetime. He’s long dead. Gerry Adams has said the same thing on many occasions. He’s almost 78 and there’s no actual sign of it being anywhere near.

As I'm sure you know a survey never asks one question (and the question asked by every single one of those surveys is not the question on the ballot paper), the follow up questions are usually would you vote for, which flips the first result and the last one is are you willing to pay for it, which gets a resounding no.

I always love the people from other countries who see the news reports and think they know better than the natives.
And low and behold the prince of knowing better has arrived, hello @Gutter Boy, I wondered how long it would take you to show up.

Must admit that I thought after you had all been proved horribly wrong on the blessed St nicola and all things SNP (despite me repeatedly telling you all she was a wrong un) you would have kept your heads down for a bit longer.

I have always known that mate.
And to flip that, the vast majority of English people don't hate Scotland.
I have always loved it. Spent lots of time in the Highlands when I was much younger (family trips) and have been back several times in the last decade or so.
Scottish culture is great, the countryside beautiful, the people wise and witty, there's so much to love about the place. Same with Wales for me, another country I love and thoroughly enjoy visiting. My mother's from Wexford so, yes, all of Ireland is magical (and in my blood), and Northern Ireland is a fine place too albeit I don't know it as well as the other countries I've mentioned here.

This separatist drum gets beaten every so often. This time the danger is it's being beaten by agitators and billionaires who really can sniff the blood of societies collapsing and are therefore keen to divide and conquer even more so as they can profit off the ensuing chaos and hatred such 'drumming' can bring (IMO)...

It's the next stage of destabilization by some very dedicated agitator and a particular state actor who is well, well on the way to achieving their aim of destroying any fabric of togetherness and resistance to their actions. Backed by despicable crypto-billionaires, half of whom see all this as an amusing game. In fact, if this sort of thing is allowed to take further hold, it will herald the official colonisation of ordinary people everywhere by these crypto-billionaire loons and their technofacist friends! I mean, it's happening now!

I have as many English friends as I have Scottish, from Southend to Manchester.
My mum's family is from sligo, and my dad had loads of friends in the north and we visited both. Unfortunately those ties have loosened since my parents passed. It's a beautiful country and my brother and I keep threatening to visit the family in sligo, but life gets in the way.
Unfortunately I've no connection to Wales.

Each nation has its culture and identity but the people are the same, just as we all are.
Our problems and our joys are same as every one else's, if only we could be left alone and not led astray by the corrupt and hate spreaders.

Which was going to be my exact point, so thanks for making it so well.

Creating a double split, one away from England and another away from near half your own people does not seem like alignment to me, it seems like the absolute opposite.

Brunenburgh was in 937AD so next year is the ever so meaningful 1090 anniversary (not that any decadal or century or millennial anniversary has any more real meaning than the 738th anniversary beyond being able to count to 10 on our fingers ....)

Also very few parallels from what i can remember - Athelstan beat an invading army to unify 'England' but was nothing to do with empire building so what does that have to do with Scots, Irish or Welsh wanting to step away from England?
