Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

I've never heard of gymshark to be honest but let's put that in the patagonia box for now. If we want to spend time pulling apart the tech bros and their business I'm game. Mind you I'm on a phone and a bit tipsy so responses will be erratic but righteous.

I’d sooner ensure we encourage wealth creation but make the case for charging their businesses fairly for the success they are able to achieve within our society. Gymshark are a household name in the U.K. A fairly recent startup and the starter-upper is now a ‘billionnaire’ as his business has been so successful.

Tax havens abound and that is where everything goes to pot. Look at the median wealth of Luxembourg it’s incredible. Businesses should compete on a level footing including the tax models they adhere too.

What do you mean, of what?

If you're going to ask daft questions, I'm out of this convo

That's not a daft question, "cost" doesn't really explain anything, especially when you consider that most immigrants are of working age and contribute more to the economy than they take out. Do you mean the cost to the immigrant?

This site might be of interest to you,

I'd also recommend the ONS.

You referenced it yesterday in conversation with someone I was debating with and then again in a direct response to me now. So it’s natural that I would think it has something to do with my comments. But fair enough if it was not.

I support tax and general polices that put more money in working people’s pockets. I think that’s good for the economy and society as a hole.

It was not.
Rob, I am direct and honest. IF it had been about you, I'd have had no problems saying so.

Wealth creation for who? Businesses and making profit have been around, well forever i.e. commerce. That is not what we have now. We have neoliberalism. Do you support this?

Do you guys see the billionnaires distinctly from the businesses they own? You could stick em all on an island but then you’d find we live in a world short of the best ideas.

Please.
Yes, there are some incredibly smart and imaginative people, but sorry, most of them are skilled in the art of fleecing the brilliant and the best of their ideas, and harvesting them into enormous wealth.
I'll tell you what though, I'd love the chance to test the hypothesis. I'll bet you great actionable ideas remain abundant...it will, always, be about who backs what horse and why (or simply about very wealthy entities and people 'taking' the intellectual properties)...

Charlatans. Sorry, there is no great idea here, just manipulation and...well, here ya go. So yes, let's throw this one on 'the island' ;)

Encouraging wealth creation shouldn’t just be at the entrepreneur/millionaire level.

We need middle and working class people to be able to do it as well. Be able to make higher salaries, to own property, invest in the market. Even the culture of stock options for employees does not exist to a major level in the UK.

That does not get solved by taxing rich people more or a fairer amount if that’s how you position it.
