It's going to take 2-3 months to get him match fit, that's 2-3 months to see if there is even a player worth persisting with. At which point, Kudus, Deki, Maddison, Savio, Marmoush are likely all better options.

Genuinely, taking Harry Wilson on a free on the right, and having Savio play on the left would have been way smarter, short-term impact and cheaper, plus another HG .. us dying on the hill of Gakpo/Ndiaye was stupid.

Completely agree on Harry Wilson. Impact players like him, whether starting or from the bench, are invaluable in today's Premier League. Trossard was equally effective. Anyone who delivers goals or assists on a regular basis is extremely valuable.

That was always going to happen after two years without squad training and competitive matches. There's a reason why they coined the phrase 'match fitness'. Hopefully, it's just a small setback. He was never going to be of any use in the short term anyway, and I doubt a manager as experienced as De Zerbi wouldn't know that.

If he's not played in 2 years, it would be surprising if every groin/hamstring/quad etc. area of fragility in his entire body didn't ping.

Issue with this is had he got called up by Ukraine he would have got some matches in to build fitness and confidence.

Positive is it gives Savio or Marmoush a better chance at playing LW which I think is what most of the fan base wants to see. Maddison is back so he takes that bench spot as well.
