***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Saturday August 29th, 5.30pm, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium***

It was better than last week at least

True! Baby steps.

We were okay first half. Created the better openings. But our press wasn't anywhere as good as theirs. In attack we're lacking confidence. Marmoush isn't yet comfortable in front of goal. I'd play him on the left and let him use his pace to cut in.

We might want to keep Richarlison until Jan. Keep some consistency, and some goal threat.

At least the midfield looks good. So much more to come from us out of possession, and in attack. It will take time.

Tel was just cold. 🤣

It was Tel being rubbish, Porro at RW and 3 CMs in midfield with no AM. So the setup was unbalanced but despite that we did creat opportunities, but we didn't take them.

You know what the system was, it's quite simple we are just packing the available players to play it properly. Now if the question is should we have adjusted it to something else? Maybe but if we don't have a capable RW available or a competent LW available and no AM fit I don't know what changes he can make that will make it work.
What was the system in your view?
I couldn’t see one

Decent between both boxes, crap in both boxes. Totally lacking quality and poor decision-making in the final third.

Both goals were really poor from a defensive point of view. Tel should've dropped back when it was obvious that a long ball was coming, but instead he runs forward. Poor all around after that. Free man in the six-yard box for the second, enough said.

fudge me. As disastrous a start to the season as we could have had, that second half was poison. Saudi Sportswashing Machine deserved it, we didn’t look like scoring second half.

For the life of me, on the corner for the second goal, I’ll never understand how the defending team will have 2 players in an area and the attacking team will have 3. Seems suicidal to me and so it proved.

But…

We have to stick with it. There is something there that will be good when it clicks. Marmoush is a player, Kudus back is gonna be big for us.

Would criticise RDZ for today, Porro right wing was madness, some of the organistaion wasn’t good enough and the second half was abysmal. It’s also a worry when we continue a bad run of form over the last two seasons.

But I said 10 games last week. As sick as I am today, I stand by that and believe we’ll be in a better place then.

And ducked and got caught under the ball defensively (as he did in the WC and told on here).

He looks a liability so far. Early doors but he looks horrifically with his positional awareness
I said it when we were fighting relegation last season. If you can't defend you are in trouble in this league with so many tight games. I thought RDZ would realise that but instead went out to buy ball playing defenders instead of ones who could actually defend. We got caught defensively for both goals and got caught one on one several times. Oh and plus we are looking to get rid of our best defensive defender. Early days but there is no way RDZ succeeds here without building a solid defensive base.

I know you know football well enough to see the system. Thinking we did it badly is not the same thing as not having one.

I think we failed ultimately because we have some square pegs in round holes. Get round pegs in round holes and we di a bit better.

Teams not fit. Whether it’s based on the Australia/NZ trip or being overly cautious with injuries.

Kinsky 6/10
Gray 7/10
JPVH 6/10
VDB 6/10
Robertson 5/10
Bentancur 5/10
Tonali 2/10
Fernandes 7/10
Porro 7/10
Marmoush 6/10
Tel 4/10
Udogie 6/10
Kudus 5/10
Moore 5/10
Solanke 5/10
Van Hecke 6/10? The guy is a shockingly bad defender! Absolutely nowhere to be seen when defending is required! Stands watching, not marking anyone, and constantly in the wrong position. Can't head, doesn't win duels. I'm struggling to think of a worse signing.

Literally stopped them making it 3-0 with a great tackle and wasn’t at fault for either goal.
