Not trying to make excuses for Tel but I do wonder if Charlton were doubling up more on our left hand side last night, seeing Tel / Udogie as more of a threat than Moore / Gray, who seemed to have more space.

Anyway, I think Tel is really quite good, and unfortunately a lot of the opinions on him are coloured by the fact that for most of his time at the club, the club has been an absolute basket case.

Stats match what I remember, Tel beat his man once. Tbh I don't have a problem with his performance as much as I feel like I'm being gaslit when people are saying he had a decent performance. I wouldn't go as far as to say he was rubbish but against a Charlton reserve FB we need to be expecting more than him beating said FB once in the entire match and having basically 0nimpqct offensively.

I don't think Moore is ready either but he's actually having an impact in an offensive sense even if his readiness is questionable. Tel not being able to impress even against Charlton should be concerning for everyone. Especially when Moore did much better.

You're right in that he didn't have a good performance Tuesday night (he was better against a good PL RB on Saturday weirdly) but at the same time outside of the goal I don't think Moore was particularly impressive either. Neither were Bergvall, Gray, Udogie, JPVH, Davies or Solanke if we're being fair. The only real bright sparks for me were Bentancur and Fernandes.

Both Tel and Gray are being judged on two games though, and in a team which is not playing cohesively as we bring back starters and integrate the new players into RDZ's system. I'd be ok with both as backups or sending Moore out on loan if we bring in another winger to start on the left, but my concern is highlighting individual players in a system which is not yet performing at anywhere near its' optimal level. It's a slippery slope.

I agree. If we had brought him in this summer many on here would be praising his attitude in trying to always be positive.

He didn't have a good game but he wasn't the only one. I thought he was our best player Saturday though.

But we're a new team playing a new system. Give it time.
