American politics

One person citing ICU admissions and mechanical ventilator

One person citing pregnancy miscarriages

One person citing birth defects

What a confused conversation.

People do not understand that scientists discuss risks privately at length. These texts are evidence of conversations. And the idiot sharing them here understands science as much as RFK and Trump. Tinpot prik

This seems more an issue with what someone said behind closed doors and then in public than it does the outcome of what was implemented. Surely what matters is what has happened.

There were far greater issues with Covid in the world than Fauci, no one seemingly that worried about them seemingly

Its an obsession with the MAGA idiots in the USA at the moment.

Simple question. What's more harmful for a pregnant lady and her baby. Mrna or full blown Covid. End of convo.

I certainly do not subscribe to any of the wacky theories or cures produced by Trump or any other idiot on SM.
However I've never been very clear on why what is effectively a respiratory disease is dangerous to pregnant women, or lots of other people for that matter.
There is a middle ground, not everyone who has issues with covid and it's very wide repercussions is a conspiracy theory nut.

This is a good convo to have. It is different to the nut job nonsense rob is trying to push on here.

In what respect, how Covid was an issue full stop?

Yeh sorry If I am being dumb or not making sense, I wanted to know if I am reading it right.

You are not sure sure why a respiratory disease is dangerous to people?

To be clear I am not digging you out here, I just want to make sure I am reading something right

No problem.
It's the implied link that pregnant women are more at risk.
Why?
Another instance.
My sister in law is diabetic and epileptic, she is on something like her 8th jag because her GP insists on telling her that she is at risk due to her conditions.
I struggle to understand how either of those conditions make her more at risk to a respiratory disease.
What's the link?

Ahhh ok cool, yeh I mean its fair, I suppose like most things, people with underlining conditions means the impact of it would have a detrimental impact on what else that person has going on. As I understood it, Covid was not what actually killed people, it was their bodies response to it that did. One part was your body heating up to levels to try and kill off the disease, so I imagine the impact that might have on a pregnant woman could impact the unborn, thats purely guess work on my part.

The comments I see are not linked directly to that study, or at least they don't state that? Unless I am being blind?

Because the studies are from 2023 and 2024. In 2021 they didn’t know the answer and there were concerns which they discussed privately. But the message to the public was different. No red flags.

Can you provide a credible link?
There are many, many steps between what you're posting (unverified for me) and your theoretical.

You either believe the data which says there is no data supporting the theory that covid vaccines increase the risk of birth defects in pregnant women (and did back then) or you don't. If you don't, that's your choice.

https://www.cdc.gov/covid/vaccines/pregnant-or-breastfeeding.html

BTW, I see you have zero interest in answering my question.

What question?

I’m Type 1 diabetic - I’m pretty fit and it’s pretty well-controlled.

However, any type of virus tends to make my blood sugar levels quickly become erratic. I can experience unexpected highs and lows, both of which present dangers.

Respiratory diseases are much more likely to take a firm hold on a body in which the blood sugar levels are fluctuating; this can quickly lead to ketones in the blood, which can be fatal if undetected (and they are often relatively symptomless).

Diabetics are also much more prone to developing pneumonia as a result of other respiratory diseases.

Thanks for the reply, see I was totally unaware of that and it makes sense.
Glad someone has taken the time to explain it.
