Are you equating Gray and Lankshear? Much as I would have loved the latter going on loan for another season, instead of being sold, nothing he has done till now suggest he is anywhere close to Gray's potential...

Like I said, I love what the club is doing with adding all these players and I want the team to win, but I also want the team to have a good balance for the future as well and we already see it with players like Bergvall and Gray where they are not going to get much playing time with the additions of these new players. Gray doesn't seem like he has been as vocal as Bergvall about moving, but is is understandable that these young players want to play.

I think there is perhaps a different outcome if we were more cash rich. Would we be more willing to integrate these younger players if they didn't draw a profit in this financial year's books?

Savio can dribble inside on the left, he's not a purely outside dribbler, but yet it's a different balance to having a left and right foot in the left.

I think your point has validity but Nico Claesen is not a good example. According to one summary of his Spurs career, his issues came about from the switch to a 5 man midfield -- https://www.sporting-heroes.net/foo...en-9257/biography-of-his-spurs-career_a11185/

I remember his problem was getting game time when there was room for only one striker and Clive Allen was scoring for fun. I actually told Clive that I liked Nico and he acknowledged what a good player he was.

I think a better example is Ilie Dumitrescu. I had it on good authority from the coaching staff at the time that he quickly fell out of favour because he would disappear if the opposition kicked him early in the game.

All transfers are a gamble, the issue comes that every 4 years players signed having been at the world cup, generally and fans make up this story that "they were only signed because................" and then you get the same story that they didn't work because it never works, when loads do. But the truth is they are no different to any other transfer, for 2 years out of 4 clubs sign loads of players and they fail having not played in any summer comp

We are pretty well stocked on the left, I'm not overly concerned, he's not been that great at RB the few times he's stepped in.

I appreciate I am on the minority here, but I don't overly rate him that highly.

But more importantly, seems he wants the move as well.

Other than a rumour once not sure thats true, we will see I suppose

Going from rotation at the 17th placed club, to being a starter for a likely title challenger, isn't really a hard sell.
