I'm actually quite interested to see the nuts and bolts of the proposal. I can't imagine I'll like it or my opinion will change but it's an absolute embarrassment for Infantino that he's met with this much resistance before his proposal has been properly presented. Says a lot about what people think of him and his methods. And, in this case, people are right IMO.

Morgan Chase, another of those vampire outfits who claim to add value but suck things dry.

Their whole evaluation apparently is in comparison to the closed shop franchise values of the NFL, NBA and NHL which isn't exactly a like for like comparison.
 
I say let Infantino sell "it", not that "it" belongs to him anyway.

Then the continental federations can get together and form their own equivalent of FIFA, call it WWFA, and run their own world cups with all the country members in it. Infantino's investors stakes therefore become worth a big fat zero in FIFA.

A deposed Infantino can then count his money whilst having 10 bodyguards just to leave his house.

I need TP for my bunghole.
 
It's all just a misunderstanding, no one being forced to do anything, FIFA welcome the opportunity for members offer their opinions.

It seems a strange consultation process where timescales and financial are already in place along with covert treats regarding members access to funds.
It's more like an ultimate than a proposal.

Nothing will happen until they count all the votes they have bought.
 
The start and end of this idea is that Trumps venture capital team make a killing selling the game on whilst Infantino will pay himself multiples of his FIFA salary as Chief Executive of the Commercial entity.

The world will get a Football product diluted by adverts, corporate sponsorships of throw ins and corners and what not.

It's such a clusterfudge driven by greed and arrogance seemingly.

I'm actually interested to see what the proposal is and contains. I guess I'll strongly oppose it because if people are investing, they expect a return and that completely changes the focus of whoever is actually making the decisions around FIFA competitions. As I see it, everything will be done to maximise revenue. Hydration breaks in every game/competition, all football behind a paywall, sponsorship of everything that can be sponsored, a move to push the players even harder. The dystopian possibilities are endless.

That's my assumption. Perhaps it won't be that bad. Perhaps it might at some point be viewed as ahead of its time. None of us know because it's already been rejected because of the arrogance of how Infantino has mismanaged it. And the manner of how he's done it not only kills this initiative but also exposes a lot of what is wrong with FIFA at the moment. This, the Peace Prize, the Balogun suspension...they're just symptoms.

The organisation is rotten.
 
Some events just need to remain sacred...for the good of the actual sport itself...yes, commercial elements creep in BUT not sell it's soul to the commercial grinder like this. Everyone knows what's this is, and the WC doesn't need this, it can stand all day on its own two feet as a product. It doesn't need anything added.
It's just cynical greedy fudgers as per usual.
 
Could it be that FIFA, or many of it's main execs (including Infantino) are actually broke?

Could this be an attempt at a quick 'bailout' for themselves or the organisation before a discovery of big debts to many existing corporates that deals have been struck with years ago?

That would appear inconceivable given the product they have to sell....BUT never say never.

I doubt they are personally 'broke' far too many opportunities for brown envelopes.

Days after Fantino crowing it's been the most profitable WC ever. I suspect he see some way of getting in on the accommodation, entertainment and travel markets that they have not yet licensed as "partners".
This WC has shown international investors how much money gullible football fans around the world are prepared to pay for this "experience"

Indeed. Trump said he couldn't believe the popularity of it. Said 'Like 50 Superbowls' or something to that affect.
Thinking of the negative press and stories leading up to it around cost, treatment, travel etc....yet EVERY nations fans turns up. The fans make it the spectacle it is. Football is in the blood of billions.
Music to Trumps ears and an easy sell for Infantino if he's looking to get the blood sucking leeches onboard. The smell of opportunity ($$$$$).

On the surface, i'd agree.
But it's just so odd that they'd look to tie-in future revenue in the way they seem to be. Football (on the surface) is the golden goose that keeps laying each time a tournament comes around.
If anything, you'd want to have a free-for-all re advertising and associated contracts each time a world cup comes along and not tie yourselves down to anything or anyone in future. Certainly not tying yourselves to the likes of Morgan Stanley etc.

The only thing i see as an issue here asi that (like the Olympics) hosting a world cup is often now becoming more of a cost burden that outweighs the all the kudos/benefits and so the money FIFA are asking countries to put up they are saying no thanks and hence only mega cash-rich football newbies like Saudi (who want to use football as a vehicle for other things) or countries who want to share the costs are now stepping up to bid. And the less bidders the less FIFA can drive up the prices of being associated with the tournaments etc...hmmm...

I think the major problem with the Olympics is the majority of the events are in one city and the burden falls on the host.
