Tottenham Hotspur v MK Dons Pre Season Game #1 - 5:30pm UK Kick Off

HT thoughts

- Lots more popping the ball around, seems very happy to make/receive passes in tight spaces
- Lots of rotation around Tonali & Fernandes
- Far more attempts to pass through the middle than we are accustomed to

On down side
- Solanke seems disconnected, can't get himself into the rotation (Tel, Solomon, Gray, Gallagher all doing better to be involved)
- Takai and Kyerematen (not picking on them) ok defensively but much slower transitioning the ball out.

We desperately need a striker

LWB is a class act isn't he?
Driving runs, skipping past challenges.
3 excellent passes to set a man free on goal.
Shame his brilliant ball to Yang was sliced wide.
Shame his late shot hit Scarlett.

Not a lot went right for Scarlett Richie Yang.
Felt a bit sorry for Donley trying to hold midfield on his own with a bit of help from LWB.

Note Phillips was on the bench, not used.
Hardy did really well at CB.

Good interview from Seb Bassong.
Says there are lots of good signs; the WC players were all watching the game and getting on really well, great camaraderie.
And RDZ is ensuring VERY high standards, the players really noticed the higher level expected.

All fairly positive

A midfield of Gallagher/Bent/Fernandes/Tonali will see us control the midfield more rather than yeeting it into touch every 4 passes.
We already saw that under RDZ last season with Bentancur/ Gallagher / Palinhia in CM and no fit attackers. It was only under Frank and Tudor with far fitter squads that we couldn’t. All about the manager.

2nd Half thoughts

- Richi looked way more involved than Solanke managed (with Richi in poorer team)
- LWB looked good, needs to work on decision making (ball hog)
- Moore did Moore things, looked good in spurts, couldn't stay in game for extended periods
- Hardy looked good

On down side

- Scarlett, not involved
- Donley, Yang

Still as a team tried to ping ball around and pass through middle.

We still got overrun and struggled on the ball v Leeds/Everton/Chelsea/Brighton for good chunks of those games.
