Cristian Romero

Ha, ha and there were people on here saying he wasn't an unlikable cnut. I bet he wouldn't have been posing with that Malvinas banner if he had to play another season in England. Glad he has gone.

Why wouldn’t he? He has a right to air his views and bias towards what his country believes in. Isn’t that exactly what you are doing?

He’s not saying anything that is not beyond reason

Well, apart from the FACT that he is NOT allowed to make political points in FIFA sanctioned matches, it was pretty classless. He must know that holding that banner was spitting in the eye of the people who have been paying his wages for the last four years. So, I guess it would have been okay for the England players to run on the pitch with a Maggie Thatcher GOTCHA banner with the Belgrano going down too eh? Stupid comment!

Has he gone?

I can't comment on the conflict, I've family that served over there during it but don't knoe enough about the family..I feel like if Argentina had taken control of the Isle of Wight and it was still "theirs", us lot probably wouldn't love it either..

Based on what? Have other players made noises that he’s disruptive?
No. It’s an opinion. Apart from anything else, the bloke fudged off to Argentina to watch another team while his teammates toiled against a relegation (to which his mixed performances, constant injuries and regular suspensions contributed significantly): I hardly think that shows the attitude and behaviour of someone likely to provide peace and harmony in a dressing room.

Spain shows us all that a team can be far greater than the sum of its parts. Ergo, I’d far rather have Danso (for example) in my side than Romero.

Cheerio, Cristian, you’ve been a taco.

Maybe. But it would depend upon us having never properly occupied the Isle of Wight and them having settled it for hundreds of years…!

Anyway, this is a football forum so I shall return to the correct subject now!

As good a defender as he is, the reality is he is a head case and a total liability on the pitch, he is just being referred differently, either due to playing for Argentina or refs simply not being fully aware of him.

Against Cape Verde when they were 1-0 up and comfortably in control, he did his trademark rush from the defensive line into midfield and take a opposition player out from behind without getting anywhere near the ball, he didn’t even get booked, it would have been a deserved nailed on red card if he done that for us in the premier league, the BBC/ITV (whatever channel that match was on) commentators were utterly gobsmacked that he got away with it scot free.

How did we go from the class of captain Mabbutt to this clown, hopefully the Spanish teach him some humility on Sunday.

He’s done similar to this when playing for us. The bloke is an idiot. Any brains he has are in his football boots.

A better analogy would be Argentina taking control of the Faroe Islands (300 miles away) 350 years ago

Perhaps because FIFA had set a precedent in the Qatar WC when players were not permitted to make political views by wearing rainbow symbols?
I expect FIFA to give Argentina a draconian fine somewhere in the region of €1,000 and a warning if they do it again.
It was a provocative action we see from rightwing thugs over here, I wonder if they would they have done it if they lost?

I read that FIFA forbade the French team from wearing black armbands in honor of Deschamps' mother whose funeral was during the World Cup.
What would FIFA have done if the French had just worn the armbands anyway?

I hope he stays, but isn't captain and therefore has to earn his place.

Give that a season and the assess.

I got no idea who I'd give the armband to, not Maddison either. I suppose Gallagher will get it in the next 18 months or so.
