He could be a 120-150mil player by the end of the season.

There is more mechanised play yes but the quality of players has improved significantly. I know a fair few coaches who have been I. The game a long while and they say that previously you had footballers and athletes. Now you have to be both a great footballer and a great athlete to succeed. Player ball mastery has improved significantly but tactics and counter patterns develop so quickly that the defensive side of the game tends to outperform the attacking side.

The "footballing" side has most definitely dropped off in place of athletics, there is much less emphasis on mastery with the ball at feet, range of passing, range of shooting, individual x factor and skill. Its a game built on stats and %'s. Thats why most coaches now all follow the same range of tactics and play the whole...........get the ball to the edge of the 6 yards box and buzz the ball across into the danger zone which creates the most chances statistically.

There is absolutely no mystery to why having 2 strikers and subsequently the lack of real depth globally on quality strikers. Its also one of the main reasons two of the top 6/7 players in this world cup, being lauded for turning up, are in their 40s

I don't think we got worse than we were, but the rest of the league improved massively, and we plateaued. Teams like Brighton trasported back 10 years, would be in contention to win the league. The quality of the midtable sides has drastically improved.

Yet we the PL is missing some flare players. The Ginolas etc - there are fewer skilled maverick players now.

£25m is a LOT for Bournemouth to spend on Rodriguez. Their turnover is only a third of ours. That is like us spending £75m.
And this striker only got 7 goals last year, for Elche.

You guys say "we need to take gambles like Bournemouth do, we need to sign Kroupi before he becomes Kroupi" so put your money where your mouth is... would you rather we sign Kroupi for 75 or Rodriguez for 25?
 
kroupi is a smallish guy that has high mobility that operates between the lines and behind the defenders - not great at headers but defiinitely a specialist with the ball on the ground, i think its a risk we can take especially if we can bring the price down and tie it to performance outcomes

I think the no hands idea is good, given where the game is at the moment. Alternatively, refs could just apply the laws of the game and stop players using their body to block others unless the ball is within playing distance.

Anybody going to take this option for Rodriguez? Anyone still want Spurs to purchase players BEFORE they have a stellar season in the Prem?

No, top 6 clubs don't take punts or buy players that require 2 years to develop in certain positions (you can rotate in wide players, or give midfielders short runs)

If we want to be an elite club, 90M is where it's at now, and accept that some won't work out (People can point at how well United spent last summer for front line, but forget Anthony, Mount and a lot of others)
