Eli Junior Kroupi

He is We need to move on from this obsession with Kane. He is 32, 33 in 2 weeks. We actually need someone for the future not a 35 year old Kane he will be at the start of the 27/28 season. Which will just mean we need to look for a new striker again, let’s actually just do that now so we can have someone available for the next 3 to 4 years.

For me, there is a part of we have seen the best of Kane, we will remember him for what he is/was, a generational elite striker. Do we really want to see his last years when the game starts to past him? Better he go to Barcelona, milk a couple more years out in a slower league, get a couple more titles and come home as a visitor/ambassador for club

Yep. The eye test tells me that this lad has the potential to be one of the next great ones. He makes it look easy and glides across the pitch but matched with a high level of maturity for someone so young.

I mentioned before but will reiterate that he has Terry Henry-vibes about his game. After one more season at Bournemouth he may be out of our league already.

I think what people are missing about him is, he's already a very good finisher. So many strikers in the current game have everything but finishing (speed, movement, able to beat man), we are building a very good midfield, we will want a striker to finish the chances

I don't see it as a 90M spend, it's more, move on Sarr, Richi, Romero and replace with Kroupi and Savino, same as we sold Vuskovic and Dragusin and got JVH, Sensei & Robertson

He’s the best he’s ever been atm

Seem to remember reading that Brighton target strikers who are good in all metrics except finishing. They will be undervalued and they have a belief that is the area of a forwards game that can be developed with expirience.

So the fact he is already an elite finisher is huge.

I actually don't agree with that, don't think it's possible. He's older, slower, he's had the ankle injuries, he's just in better sides now.

He always had the work ethic, the intelligence, the all-round game, none of that is new. The only thing that has changed since people stopped questioning his level is he plays for Bayern instead of Spurs

In a better side in a much weaker league

He is playing in a weak league which is helping him save himself
Christ we beat Dortmund quite comfortably

61 goals this season (outside the WC) of which about 15 were CL goals.

German League or not thats fudging insane.

I do laugh at the German League comments given how sh1t the PL is these days.

All this Kane talk is very interesting; one of my friends actually watches England wonders if we'll bring on Watkins at some point vs Argentina (or certainly France or Spain if we get to the final) as he thinks Kane's lack of mobility is actually hindering England now...

We comfortably beat Dortmund and Frankfurt last season despite being abject ourselves, Dortmund finished 2nd, Frankfurt 8th.

Fag packet maths makes most of that league Championship standard

Didn't we hear this in every other competition as well? never in the right place, always dropping too deep, now it is his lack of pace.

Perhaps if we had wingers who could cross, perhaps if Saka didn't do the inevitable cut back inside and launch a fairly lame shot at the near post, perhaps, perhaps. At least Sterling scored a few goals when he failed to pass to people in better areas.

Er yeah, his goals have really hindered us all the way to the semi finals and Ollie Watkins would be a much better solution. It's why top clubs are linked with Kane and Watkins is linked with Turkey....

Yeah, i mostly agreed before; It's more of an open question for me now though. Kane was quite anonymous vs Norway

Of course and we came close to beating PSG once and gave them a proper scare the second time, they won the whole thing.

None of which tells the full story on Kane. Kane absolutely ripped up the CL, thats not nothing. I just am not buying this idea that Kane has somehow got worse because nothing really points to that other than opinions about the the German league.

He is the best striker in World Football currently

Fair, but it's not so binary. As mentioned before, Kane was quite anonymous vs Norway. Is that because Norway are as good as France/Spain/Argentina, because Madueke and Gordon don't cross or something else?
As i say, it's a fair debate for me these days

But he has 6 WC goals, so you are picking one game that suits to have what you class a fair debate?

I know you love to ask everyone else their opinion on all things, but whats your honest opinion all things said and done on Kane (Norway aside)

He has been for years.

Watching him play though you can see physically he has started to wind down, so for that reason alone he is not at the level he was previously, so therefore not the best he's ever been as claimed - had he moved to Bayern a couple of years earlier he'd have made an even bigger impact than he has, which is insane

Personally I don't think his physicality is playing to his level at all, people have claimed that for years and he has always found ways to adapt, thats what makes him so so good IMO.

Father time will get everyone, but I think he looks every bit a WC striker if not more so, his finishing has got better IMO

Fair enough, but it's one game you're talking about and the heat was difficult for someone like him. Kane is levels above anything else England has and any issues are with those behind him not doing enough - give him even half decent service and he's doing the business....

Is he?

As a short term option we could do worse, for what I assume is a lowish fee

He would become out best striker
