Transfer thread

I know we’re not supposed to praise anything to do with them but I think Trossard is a very good player. Would be surprised if someone better didn’t try to sign him.
Didn't we put in a bid for him when he was leaving Brighton? I think it was something insulting like £8m.

Arsenal came in for him a bit later in the window, paid 24 million euros, had him doing very well for them for 3.5 years and are now selling him for 20 million euros.

Of course the player may well have chosen Arsenal anyway all things being equal. However, that was another example of the powers that be at the club at the time having no idea about the real value of players (i.e. it was just about 6 months being left on the players contract as opposed to thinking of the value the player would give to the team).

Yeah, agree although I was always more in the Harvey Barnes camp at that point. One player I thought would have been great in our colours.

why is trossard choosing besikas instead of another premier league club? so many playing in europe next season and will need experienced and reasonably priced reinforcements

But it highlights two big issues with the current moaning

- The same media that is questioning Spurs spend, bum licked Chelsea and City for over a decade
- Everyone is failing to acknowledge the two decades of work off the pitch (yes, again the thing that has been mocked for years) that has given us the financial ability that neither Villa or Saudi Sportswashing Machine have done.
No we are saying we didn't need to pump money in to make more expedient transfer dealings, it wasn't a lack of money that meant that we haggled and haggled past the start of every season and hampered the manager and player staff. We didn't need to pump money in to actually use the market to player trade intelligently.

For you it seems a club can only do well by over spending when actually no, you can use the resources you have to their maximum and ring out the very best you can from what you have but Levy never managed to do this.

Just looking at the current outlay and potential sales:

JPVH £52m
MF £85m
ST £95m
Kroupi £80m
Marmoush £60m

Outgoings and potentials

Vuskovic £50m
Richarleson £30m
Bergvall £50m (I think he will go despite the noise)
Spence £40m (Fingers crossed)
Romero £60m

Net potential is around £ -142m

Apparently we have up to £400m to spend.

If the above happens I think we have already a better set of quality players.

I think he is quite dumb tbh
He seems to have no clue when to pass and when to keep the ball and his passing is very poor
For a high who has played for some big clubs I’d expect much better decision making

Think that was the point of the comment.

neither Saka or Madueke are great at decision making.

perhaps Walcott still has a coaching role at Arsenal??

I don’t think we’ll get those fees for your final 4 players. You’re £10m too high on each of them IMO. I also don’t think we’ll sell Spence at all.

Though I think you can safely add Vicario (£15-20m), Dragusin (£15-20m), Devine (£10m), Sarr (£25m) and Solomon (£10m).

There are also the likes of Phillips, Donley, Takai, Dorrington and Scarlett likely to be sold. I think we’ve also sold Veliz for about £8m

I read something based on one of the pressers that Tuchel deliberated long and hard about Madueke vs Bowen in that wide berth. Of course, the entire nation was talking about Palmer vs Foden, both of which drift too far inside for the manager's liking.

In reality, it feels our country is perhaps starting to appreciate Saka more in these last couple of weeks. He's not fully fit but still outperforming Madueke who arguably should have been left at home for Bowen. Now Tuchel might be thinking whether Gordon and Rashford both starting could be a way to go.

These are close calls though.
