Sick sick world what is wrong with people

(...is this the moment where I say 'I didn't say you asked for a free pass' and we then descend into a pantomime act before there's a rapid shift of gears and we suddenly end up in a whole other conflated-topic conversation?...I'll pass ;))...

You avoided the question and instead chose to respond to the 'p.s.'...very odd.

He’s not looking for my empathy and I’m not going to be empathetic about something I’ve not witnessed. I can only judge Luton on my expiriences with him and you giving me a vague idea of conversations from many years ago when I’ve seen conversations from days ago get misrepresented isn’t gonna change chat.

Maybe there should be a seperate politics thread where everyone plays nice and another one where people can actually get into it. I suspect Luton would trend towards the war room as well 🤣

Personally, I am not really interested in surface level conversations. I’ve seen you say multiple times about people “condemning” x, y, z crime. I get it but what does it even mean? To me that’s the “thoughts and prayers” line you get from American politicians. It’s just words. I’m interested in understand and discussing why stuff happens and I think culture plays a major part.

Alright mate.
You go in and have that 'real talk' whilst us 'surface level bluffers' and 'play nicers' tip-toe through the tulips blowing kisses at passers-by hahahaha...

More likely to be if...............

There was quite a good post I saw earlier about this where people linked to him all denied any knowledge of knowing him, then there was a whole string of pictures of them together at rallies, waving their “protect are kids” banners and even being pictured at court together.

I mean. Its could be true, but everyone seems alot more tight-lipped about his crimes than should it have been...

Exporting violent cultural norms to other countries. Post football violence against women is an epidemic. White men who support England is a niche. Can we generalise them based on this?

I have no doubt that Rupert, Tommy, Nigel and Elon will make sure that this wife beater becomes famous…

What a disgusting, despicable piece of brick. Yes, so typical isn't it. You hear about and see it every fudging time. There are crisis centres and hostels/sanctuaries for battered women which speak about this all the time and nobody seems to notice. Glad this has been called out. I mean, what a fudging total and utter clam! I hope he goes down for it.

Indeed.
And sad to see the kids so obviously knowing what might happen next.

I expect a chorus of condemnation from all the 'lads' on this forum!!!!!!

(FWIW I think it is pretty fudging obvious that this is a scumbag with scumbag moves and that no-one should have any race should be required to say so unless they feel especially like doing so i.e. silence does NOT imply sympathy with this POS)

The point is not to follow it up with an immediate deflection to a crime by someone that’s white. Which is what was happening until it got called out.

The “is Farage going to be upset about this” jokes do not really help either and don’t even work half the time.

The issue with the grooming gangs is as much to do with the cover up as it was to do with the crimes. You can make an arguement that race/culture did not play a part in the perpetrators willingness to commit the initial crimes. What cannot be denied is that their race allowed many to continue to commit those crimes for decades without even fear of prosecution.

It's not 'the point', it is YOUR point.
We've been over this.
You have the backstory but declared it not to be within your personal scope of consideration. Your sword I suppose, you live by it.

...BTW you want a cover-up scandal?

All done without fear of prosecution, because of their standing in society. In America it was worse because as the Catholic Church is massively ingrained in the Police force culture because more departments (depending on where they are) have a Catholic chaplain

This is what I said about the Catholic priest sexual abuse cover up in this thread 2 weeks ago. I actively brought it up.

Stating that “Evil exists everywhere” is an over simplification which does not acknowledge that some crimes are more prominent within particular cultures.

I am Catholic. I acknowledge that sexual abuse of young boys is more prominent among Catholic Priests than it is among Leaders of other Christian denominations and religions. This pattern exists across different countriees and continents. Of course that have been Vicors, Rabbis, Imans that commit this horrible crime. As well as teachers, youth workers, coaches etc.

But I acknowledge that this particular horrific crime is more prominent among Catholic priests and that is due to the culture within the church. Not only to in the crime actually happening but also in the cover up which plays a very significant role.

If someone brings up a sexual abuse crime commited by a Catholic priest, I don’t immediately bring up an example of a Rabbi that has sexually abused someone to defend the church. I don’t say 99.99% of Catholic priests are good people that would never do such a thing. I completely acknowledge the failings on the church as an institution and of my own culture in this instance.

In the case of sexual abuse of young girls there are some demographics that over index. Pakistani men is one and it’s to significant degree. Failure to acknowledge that and the cultural and societal reasons that lead to Pakistani men over indexing in this type of crime, as well as continuously being on the defensive and pushing back on that being the case is problematic. As it would be if I did the equivalent for Catholic priests.

As a Catholic, I have a greater responsibility to call out what happened than a non Catholic. That shouldnt be particularly controversial.

That’s a big conversation that I have no issue discussing in deeper detail when I have more time.

But the short answer. As an institution it’s deeply rooted in secrecy, hierarchy and powerful male leadership. That’s not unique to the Catholic Church, but it’s on steroids.
