Sandro Tonali

Yeah, saw a Villa fan steaming that they 'qualified for Europe four seasons in a row and won the Europa, and still aren't allowed to match Spurs for spending'.

We qualified for Europe 17 seasons out of 20, mate. And won the Europa. We're so used to Europe that it isn't even notable when we qualify for it.

Good job on four seasons qualifying though, I'm sure that's nice.
The Villa thing is wild. Their whole argument seems to be that they should be able to spend what they want because they have a billionaire owner and Spurs building sustainably and finally spending big shouldn't be allowed because we finished 17th twice.
tacos.

So that's at least van Hecke and Tonali signing specifically because of RDZ....

One thing that has personally surprised me is how highly rated de Zerbi is, within the game.

It's not just Tonali and Fernandes (and let's be realistic - they're joining because we're paying them the wages players of their level expect). Even little snippets here and there, like City apparently feeling that Maresca was one of only three managers capable of carrying on Pep's legacy. With one of the others being de Zerbi.

Given how...average his career has been (Sassuolo, Shakhtar, Brighton, Marseille, few if any trophies to show for it), it speaks to the impact his tactics have had on the modern game.

Wonder if the little bald bloke reckons we’ve had our pants pulled down again - twice?

Well, let's give him at least a bit of credit on this happy day. We wouldn't be in this position, positive or negative, without him. Negative in the sense of us being 17th with a thoroughly crap squad on peanuts, wages-wise. That's on him in large part.

But also positive, in the sense of being a revenue-generating giant with the lowest wage ratio in the league and PSR/SQR headroom out the ass, that can drop this sort of cash without a care in the world.

As a club, we were set up to succeed without Levy, by Levy. In positive moments like this, it helps me to remember that to balance out all the frustration and anger with his skinflint ways.

who are you and what have you done with Dubai?

he would never credit Levy with anything

;)

what are we playing at, where is the money coming from

this fee is at least a little more realistic than the last 2
My guess is, Viv Lewis hating Levy and deciding she wants a legacy that isn't 'being Joe Lewis's kid'.

If she pulls off a Spurs revival, she'll be remembered as the owner that brought us what Joe couldn't. Guessing that might at least partly explain this largesse.

The club will sell for between 6-8x revenue. The only way to increase revenue at this point is improving the performance on the pitch. Regular Champions League Football, attracting more marquee commercial deals.

I don't see how we can afford this, has to be something dodgy going on
