Depends what you define as "better".... Is it being sent off three times a season and missing a fifth of the season from suspension? Or being almost 2 metres tall and constantly beaten in the air by significantly shorter players? Yes.... both Romero and VDV possess qualities that Danso can never have... however over the duration of a season I don't see him as a massively inferior player.

Things that VDV is poor at doing, you're mesmerized by his lung bursting last ditch takes, but you're missing the fact that a good number of them come from his poor positional sense in the first place. VDV is not a particularly good defender but he does have one outstanding trait. Danso had no outstanding trait but he's a good defender in most categories that actually matter.

He also doesn’t seem as fast over the last season
Could be how we played under Ftoss but did did have several moments for me where strikers left him

I would say he is the best low block defender we have. If he is content to be a bench defender and see out games he is a must keep.
 
Reports are that they have rejected a second bid and still want £70m. If he has one year left ton his contract i’d butter him up now and tell him we will be back in for him in January and see if they budge then. I reckon if he doesn’t sign a new contract and no one gives them what they want towards the end of the window that they will be forced to take our offer.

70 million with a year left is nuts

It's not my money , so if RDZ wants him hope we pay what's needed, but I doubt it's going to be 70 million

I like the player but max we should go to is £50M. We would all be comfortable going into next season with Danso, Senesi, VDV, Vuskovic are our 4 CB’s. Take that money and add it to the pot for a top tier CM or CF.
