Andy Robertson

Good player for sure, however i would rather we kept Davies [ who is only a year older] .
Davies has struggled for two years to stay with the pace of the game though. He's not a modern day full back and he's not really a patch on any of our centre halves, bar Dragusin. He's been a great servant but there's a reason he's not being offered a new contract....

He will end up at Wrexham, mark my words.

You may be right but Robertson has been poor according to some Pool supporters over the last couple of seasons.

I guess time will tell. I'd hazard that the title winning team of last season's level was a bit higher than ours, so hopefully a diminished Robertson is a step up on a diminished Davies.

As you say time will tell. The main point is that i do not think we really have to bring in another LB when we have bigger needs.

Yes but consider this.

Vicario out, Kinsky promoted, young keeper brought in. Net wage saving.

Dragusin sold, Vuskovic promoted. Net wage saving.

Davies released, Robertson signed, slight increase in wages.

Bissouma released, wages saved

Richi sold, wages saved.

If all that happens, we have brought in the Scottish captain, the best young centre half in Europe and saved a ton of wages. We can then divert those wages into some statement signings, be those free (Stones, Senisi, Vlahovic, etc) or with a fee (Savinho, etc).

Davies is part of the tapestry of the forthcoming Summer.....

We shall see.

I would absolutely trust Robertson to be relied upon consistently. I'd trust him to be more consistent and effective than Udogie and probably take over as first choice
I usually agree with you mate, but having seen a good few of his appearances this season he has dropped off massively. There could be reasons for that, not writing him off at all but based purely on last season there is no way I'd have him ahead of (a fit) Udogie and I say that as someone who thinks Udogie is overrated on here....

Sigh. Not a promising start to the summer.

The lesson you need to learn to get better - sign a player *better* than the one you have, so he takes their place and the older one drops to the bench.

If we want a left-back, sign a top one and drop Udogie. But we seem to prefer signing cheap backups that then end up becoming first choice, lowering the standard of the squad as a whole. And then we wonder why we are 17th - it's because this has happened, year after year, for close to a decade.

Udogie is injured 9 days out of 10, so Robertson, a 32-year-old Liverpool are letting leave on a free because his legs have gone, is now our first choice.

People always complain about the first signing unless it's 'the one' as if no deals happen afterwards. This was always going to be one of the first deals considering it was literally done in January.

You think a club that just squeezed through relegation is going to sign top players at the click of a finger, queuing up to come here a couple of days after the window opens? It's going to take a bit of work, let's see where the lie lands at the time the window shuts....

I don't know how the window will end, mate. I only know it has begun badly, because now we have locked in to having our first choice left back be a 32 year old freebie that Liverpool let go because his legs were gone.

This is part of the steady and continuous fall of standards that has been in evidence since 2017-ish.

The old saying, 'start as you mean to go on' applies here. They haven't started at all well with this one.

Ah, the ol his legs are gone myth. Robertson on a bad day will as hard as anyone we have at FB. the team needs balance, he can rotate with with Udogie who isn't particularly great at either end of the pitch

A lot of assumptions there.
Who says Robertson is coming in as first choice.
Why can't we sign another top lb.
Robertson is unlikely to be our top signing.
Personally I would not be anywhere near Robertson, but the window isn't even open yet so it's a bit premature to be throwing shade on it.
