Guglielmo Vicario was involved in a controversial goal during the North London Derby against Arsenal on 28 April 2024, where Ben White was seen holding onto his arm and attempting to unstrap his glove. [1, 2, 3]
The incident occurred during a corner kick that led to Arsenal's opening goal—a Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg own goal. While White was seen physically interfering with Vicario, the goal was allowed to stand as it was deemed a legal tussle for position. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Other games where Vicario's treatment by opponents led to controversial goals being given include:

  • Everton (3 February 2024): Jack Harrison was seen backing into and outmuscling Vicario on the goal line during a corner, which eventually led to an Everton equaliser.
  • Emirates Marketing Project (26 January 2024): During an FA Cup clash, Rúben Dias was accused of fouling Vicario before Nathan Aké's winning goal, though the goal was given after a VAR review. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Goals seem to be given when it happens to us.
