Next seasons squad

I don't. I think Porro is massively underrated and under-appreciated by the Spurs fans.

I just wish Spence had the fight in him that Porro has.
Interesting. He’s a good player but miles behind TAA, who he most often gets compared to, in terms of going forwards. Of all the crosses he puts in, there simply aren’t that many that are effective and he has lost his long-range shooting boots this season.

Defensively he can be hot and cold, but Spence is definitely better and a superior all-round athlete too.

I think your “fight” argument could be based on their personalities and performance though. Spence is clearly an introvert and not a shouty, high-five type player while Porro is. However I don’t doubt Spence’s character and think he is an excellent footballer who could play in a variety of positions.

Mind you, I would've given Porro the armband instead of VdV for these last games.

I like players who are good at their primary roles first and then anything else in addition is what takes them up a level, but you have to at least be good at the basic primary task and Porro is a defender and he fails at that part.

I don't really care for attacking prowess if it's at the expense of doing your primary job well and that's Porro. His attacking doesn't compensate for the lack of defensive awareness for me.

I'm sure I saw a stat late last season that showed Porro had better attacking numbers than TAA in terms of chances created.

I honestly don’t think he’s that good going forward either.

I’d like to see Spence given a shot at the position. A very good defender plus an excellent footballer in possession too.
Porro is good going forward, one of our better players technically. There's a reason why four/five managers have all picked Porro consistently ahead of Spence....

He was about even with TAA in terms of Assists I believe, but this season he has tailed off despite his volume of crosses increasing, especially under TF.

If we didn’t also have Spence I would want to keep him but I think Djed has a better all-around game and higher ceiling.

Very true. He is “good” but not significantly above average enough to make up for his defensive limitations.

Don’t get me wrong, he is a top pro but we have the luxury of two excellent RBs and I think Spence deserves a shot at the position based on what I have seen from him.

It was against a disjointed Villa team but if RDZ is going to get continued performances like that from our squad , a whole raft of youngsters to work with and players coming back from long term injuries like Kudus etc just wonder how many squad changes there will be in the summer apart from the out of contract players and VDV who looks to on his way to Liverpool or Madrid.

RDZ does seem to rate Muani very highly and has talked about him a lot , has two years left on his contract at PSG , will he be RDZ's first signing ?

Don't see it, I think he's talking up everyone and we have very few right sided options.

There is talent in RKM for sure, but it hasn't worked out here for him.

The hardest part about deciding who stays and who goes is how we judge the players.

People said that Bentancur and Palhinha can’t play together and yet v Villa it worked.

It’s about De Zerbi identifying which players want to remain, will give their all, and can play the role that he has identified for them.

I would absolutely keep Porro. I would want to keep both Romero and VDV.

The players that I would want to sell are: Dragusin, Vicario, Takai, Solomon, Sarr, Bissouma and either Richarlison or Solanke depending on De Zerbi preference.

Sarr is too much of a Jack of all Trades player. I like him but I know we have to make sales and he won’t be a first team player next season based on what we have seen.

Should be an active summer and I just hope that the owners give full backing to De Zerbi but well, we’ll see.

Would be my thoughts as well, i may be wrong but IMO Spence gives me the impression he thinks he is actually better then he really is.
I really think it’s just the way he carries himself. He can come across as low energy, the polar opposite of Porro, but I think deep down you would find a very humble, introverted person who has grown out of his earlier egotistical manner.

But who of us really knows. 🤷‍♂️

Crazy conversation, Porro would play for a bigger side than us, Spence won't
The reason I believe Spence has the higher ceiling is due to watching them (albeit highlights on YT) both playing for their national teams.

When Porro played for Spain I got the feeling he was just a tad out of his depth around the top Spanish players (Lamar, Pedri etc).

However, in contrast Spence looked completely at home for England and could comfortably play with the likes of Bellingham etc.

Just my opinion of course, but if we are looking to raise funds this summer then having two starting quality RBs doesn’t make a ton of sense with no European football next season.

Hot take. Porro is a better defender than Spence. Spence is elite at one on one defending and that’s it. Everything else’s he’s bang average for the league we’re in. Just look at results i games he plays. Consistently at fault for goals we concede and there is a reason why 5 managers in a row have preferred Porro to him.
