The *WHEN* we go down thread

I think at the last look, we had something like 35,000 season ticket holders. Taking £1,200 to be the average price (no idea if it is), that's about £40m they take in from season tickets. It'd cost them £10m-£20m to drop it 25%-50%. That's real bag of the fag packet maths but on the face of it, that isn't huge. I guess they'll also take a hit in the club shop and I can't imagine the crowds will be as big so other matchday revenue will be down too. They'll also likely have to lay people off.

Personally, it costs me the a few hundred every time I go with flights, train and food. I'd imagine most games will be on Saturday at 3pm or earlier which really doesn't suit me with my kids' sports. I'll probably renew come what may because I do wear the ST as a badge of (dis)honour but this seems like a no-win situation for the club that they can do without. I'd imagine there are a lot of people at the top of the club sweating at the moment.
In the grand scheme of things if it takes circa £15m to give everyone a £400pa reduction in their ticket it's something they should fund/swallow. For context, it'll probably cost something like that to depart from De Zerbi..

You gotta keep the fans with you, and that's a small price to pay.

I guess the other thing is, my ST per game price in the Championship would be around £56. You aren't gonna get away with charging £56 per ticket to non-season ticket holders for Preston, Norwich, Middlesbrough, Lincoln et al. The place would be empty.

IMO, you cannot charge season ticket holders (substantially) more per game than the people who go once in a while.

Well, I say you cannot. You should not. I guess if anyone can, ENIC can...

Is that £56 per game at current prices?

I absolutely agree that STs should be paying, at most, the lowest price a member or general admission ticket would cost for a like for like seat. Hopefully less.

I suppose they have some wriggle room with visiting fans as the £30 cap doesn't apply. They could even increase the allocation if home fans ain't turning up
Could sell 4-5k at £40-45 per seat?

Yeah that’s my current ST divided by 23 games.

What’s the average cost of an away ticket in the Championship now I wonder? We start hiking the prices well above average and we’ll be less popular than Donald Trump.

It’s a proper clusterfudge. High prices mean more ticket revenue but less fans, a huge drop in spending at the ground and tinkle poor PR. Lower prices mean less ticket revenue for a club that's gonna lose a huge amount of revenue already.

It's a premium experience for the away fans!

Perhaps simply make every seat for home and away fans @£40-45?

The corporate sideline tickets is a worry as the prices for them are eye watering.

Think it's always wise just to get punters in...as there will be supplementary spending. Plus we might (must) get some youngsters in!

The most premium bit for the away fans is that you're guaranteed 3 points... :)

That's not actually unreasonable. Just looking at Boro's prices for away v Ipswich. It's:

1. £39.50 for adults
2. £30.50 for over 65s
3. £23.50 for under 23s
4. £12.50 for under 19s

At home, they seem to be around £30 for an adult, £22 for over 65s, £16 for over 18s.

We have a nicer stadium and could probably charge a London premium.

Scary
I will be missing a third of the championship games if I was to renew and I won’t renew unless they massively discount the prices which I don’t think they will
Same for me, most midweek games I won't be going too as I don't get home until well after midnight, don't mind doing that for CL games but not doing it for Championship games

Surely surely surely if we go down they will have to reduce the ticket prices down by at least a 1/3rd

I bet they don't though

My pal who is an Ipswich ST holder got charged £57 for Coventry away and £59 for Norwich away
Obscene that

Shocked at that. Would have assumed it was down in the region of £30. Then @ricky2tricky4city's suggestion that we can charge away fans much more than home fans is fair enough.
Just found this on Reddit. Just a selection of grounds, not all but givesan indication.

This is how much I've spent this season, on games that I've been to, with all but Sheffield United being adult pricing:

  • Birmingham £36
  • Preston £31.50
  • Blackburn £31.50
  • Middlesboro £33.50
  • QPR £34.50
  • Leicester £33.50
  • Millwall £37.50
  • Portsmouth £33.50
  • Sheffield United (Student pricing) £24.50
  • Derby £31.50
  • Watford £38.50
  • Norwich £42.50
  • Charlton £23.50
  • West Brom £33.50
  • Bromley (Carabao Cup) £25
All of these include a £1.50 booking fee from Ipswich, and unless they were e-tickets, a £2 delivery fee as well.

West Brom, QPR, Middlesboro and Preston were all print at home from memory.

However other comments are saying that because we are Spurs we will be a Cat 1 game for every other team, so expect at least £45 per game.

I also saw quoted somewhere that EFL rules state that a club cannot charge away fans more then home fans are charged for an area of a comparable standard.

Doesn't suit us but this seems very fair.

Looks like ~£40-£45 a ticket would seem reasonable given the stadium and the fact we're in London. For ST holders, that'd be a 20% reduction (on what I'm paying anyway).

What a brickshow.

I know. I can’t balance this time last year being in Frankfurt for our EL QF second leg with wasting time today checking out away ticket rules and pricing for the bloody Championship.

I think I’m somewhere between “bargaining” and “depression”.

I’ve been thinking about this, too.

My ST is £1100. Roughly £60 per game. I would t expect to pay more than £35 per game for Championship football.

My thought is that the club will enact a tiny price reduction and then point out that we are getting more games for less money.

I’ll be walking at that point. I’d say £700 is my absolute top whack. It hasn’t been enjoyable for years, after all.

If I was still living in London I’d take a punt on not renewing and just buying a ticket to games I fancied going to. General sale tickets will be £20-£50 depending on where you sit. Go to 3/4 of the games and your better off.

If we can beat Brighton it will be a massive momentum swing going into 3 games we can win. Wolves are on the beach. Villa will be in between a UEL Semi Final. Leeds are rubbish like us. Beating Brighton can propel us into getting 6/7 points after that. Then it’s just getting something from Chelsea away or Everton at home.
