The *WHEN* we go down thread

I keep telling my mates that we're going to pull it out the bag but after this weekends fixtures I can't even pretend I believe it anymore. Yesterday was a big disappointment as I was hoping for just a bit more to cling on to but the 2nd half performance was dire.

The big thing the teams around us are showing is fight and they are scrapping for points and picking up results because of it. Our players look done in. Next weeks games are massive and I really hope De Zerbi pulls off a psychological masterclass in training this week because if the players don't step it up against Brighton with the other teams fixtures we could be nearly out of it.

Law of averages should eventually kick in, even the worst teams got occasional results. Can we really go 20 games without a win?

Stadium seemed positive to me before and during the last home game. How did that turn out?

I admire your positivity but I think it’s misplaced. I don’t think our squad has got a single pair of gonads between them, there are no leaders and they’ve thrown in the towel and thanked whatever GHod they do or don’t kneel to that they’re getting paid 50/60/100/200k a week for being utterly brick at their jobs.
A positive stadium won’t win a game on its own but it has to be more helpful than a negative one. We are where we are. We either go down swinging or we accept our fate now just so we can point fingers and say we were right all along and the players/the board/the managers are a shower of clams.

Yes to the latter.
Maybe the law of averages is waiting to spring the 60pt deduction on Emirates Marketing Project with four games left to play? :)

Not that Emirates Marketing Project will get anything except a fine & slap

There is a third way, support the team while accepting that this year has not been good enough, that the form has been poor but that we have also had a lot of injuries and bad luck.
I think we are going down, I don't think it will be either easy or fun to be in the Championship.
It won't affect how I feel or my support for our club.

I 100% accept the season hasn’t been anywhere near good enough. It’s been fudging horrible. Every last bit of it. It’s a scandal that we are where we are. There are a lot of people at the club that I’m beyond furious at. But being negative right now is counter productive IMO.

I still believe we can stay up. The players and manager have to believe it to.

Totally random thought/post but when I was at school (back in the dark ages) we called that “Ching Chang Chonga”. Absolutely no idea why. Is that familiar to anyone else?

Something for Spotify playlist… maybe we should use this as the pre-match music for our next home match to really psyche the players up :D

Our biggest loss has been Odobert 100%, he made things happen, was direct and at 1 point him, Tel and Xavi looked like they could turn into a deadly trio. We literally have nothing on the wings if Tel doesn't play. Richie, Muani and Solanke are all strikers that are not creative.
Calling those 3 strikers is a bit of a stretch.

The second the seasons done we need the squad culled. If they cant get up for a PL game they certainly won't in the champ.

The only good thing is that we have many hungry, championship ready kids to build the team around like Lankshear, Moore, Williams-Barnett, Thompson, Phillips, Donley, Byfield and Devine. A real chance to mould them into his ideal team like poch did. If we can keep hold of the likes of Maddison, Kudus, Kulu and Danso we should be too much for any team at that level.

I think that’s the problem. They’re not very good strikers and 2 of them were actually played out of position on Sunday.

Look at the times Richarlison picked up the ball up on the left and what he delivered. Compare that to someone like Son. It’s a specialist position and highlights again the neglect our board placed on the succession of that part of the pitch. 2 juniors were never going to cut it.

I don’t mind Richy up top - he’s a one touch finisher and a nuisance for CBs. But it probably has to be Tel on the left next game - and he’s not the grade either.

Law of averages is a bunch of gonads, unfortunately. 3 teams get relegated every year, all with brick points tallies, most of them go on long winless streaks. Derby got 16 points one year, never once did they get to slam the big law book of averages on the table.

If we take away our first 10 or something games this season, I reckon we’re pretty close to Derby level returns. And now we need to change that to 9 points in 6 games.

It’s not happening is it.

I’d say we need a little miracle, or for us to somehow manage to dig out that CL form we’ve shown in bits and pieces. It’s bizarre how we can boss Atletico Madrid one day and look like Sclamhorpe when we play Sunderland.

Maybe there was a specific player that played in the Madrid game that didn’t play in the Sunderland game….

Considering RDZ’s style - I’ll be amazed if we now don’t see Xavi against Brighton.
