James Rowswell

Not had the hype some other youngsters have had. Anyone know much about him?

He's a tall defender who can play anywhere across the back at youth level, I've only seen him on Spursplay and he looks to get forward at every opportunity, I think he's scored 4/6 goals this season mostly in open play. It's hard to know if he can cope at PL level and a good loan would be good for him next season.
I don't believe the development system in league prepares players for the massive step up from youth football, we need a reserve league where youth can be challenged against experienced players regularly. The loan system is a lottery as there is no guarantee of game time or control of players development and with match day squads being over 20 players there is no chance of young players gaining experience against seasoned professionals in matches.

Where do you see his long term position - at CB? Is he a bit big to be RB permanently, or is he agile enough?

Too early to say. I read

Too early to say. You don't get a real view of his overall play on TV as the focus is on the ball.
There isn't the intensity at development level in defensive play and you get time to play.
Earlier this season he was criticised on here when playing at centreback in a match, he looks happier at fullback as that allows him to get forward and he's often in advanced positions in opponents box.
Like most young players here he's been coached to play football progressively and that's a big challenge for any young defender when stepping up a level, I would think he's best chance would be at right back at this stage of his career.
