I suggest that if Dragusin and Vicario are on the pitch, the opposition will let them have the ball all day, as they are both terrible at passing.
Therefore the opposition can mark all of the other players and we are hamstrung, getting pushed back until one of Drag/Vic smash the ball 60 yards upfield OR smash it out of play OR scuff it down the middle for them to intercept.
Therefore Dragusin cannot play for us, ever. It is impossible.

The fact that our RCB is the only player in our current squad other than Simons who can actually ping a decent line-splitting pass is a damning indictment of how woeful our recruitment has been in recent years. I sincerely hope that whomever the club replace Paratici with has the nous the sign a CMF who actually has a decent range of passing. As our best spells in recent decades have coincided with one of Carrick, Modric or Dembele controlling the middle of the park. Bentancur might’ve filled that void were it not for those crippling injuries.

It's like we have an aversion or an allergy to signing players with even top tier technique. I'm not even asking for exceptional (although that would be nice) but just some fudging passing ability, some range, some vision, some ability to put the right amount of weight and spin on the ball. Our midfield is devoid of these abilities and I just don't understand how you can build a squad and so obviously keep missing the obvious.

But all of that is irrelevant because my comment (before SteveAWOL went AWOL
) was that Dragusin is a terrible passer, so must never play for us. Ever.

Chiricheș is still playing for FCSB (Steaua Bucharest). It's his last season, probably will retire. Well, playing is a big stretch, he is on the bench if that. His role now is more of a leader in the dressing room, teaching young players and helping with morale.
And we are supposed to be laser focused on numbers and statistics in recruitment! Hell, what is so difficult to interpret pass rate and pass completion rate before buying a player????

He can win a header, he can scratch a ball 20 yards away from goal, and people will say he is doing great, but he is not.
When a top defender would shield it and roll it to a colleague, or clear it 60 yards up the touchline, he will scratch it to a Gooner 20 yards away, then chaos ensues and people will say he did well to scratch it 20 yards. I cannot stand how bad he is at football.

His recent return from a serious injury along with a lack of confidence both from him and the rest of the team probably makes him look worse than he could be.
But it's imo also true that his weaknesses makes him unsuitable to us, and that he should be moved on come the summer. Can't fault his effort and I appreciate that, but we need more.

People still think being good on the ball, composure etc is some kind of bonus or nice additional option for a CB/defender. It's not, not for us at the very least. It's a necessity.
