Football men with strength of character and a vision, I'm not sure that Vinai and Lange have those qualities. All we needed was football men running the football side

I make it 14 outfield including Romero, has someone else got the injury curse ?We have 12 available first team players and we employ a coach who plays a high tempo game. It won't be long until we are down to 6 players, a dog and a horse
Ange was the opposite and that worked out just the same.
perhaps they already have someone ready but only after the world cup is doneI dont get this appointment at all. I will sit back and hope for the best. Another waste of a season.
We will if we are lucky barely scrape not getting relegated. Got nowhere in both cup competitions. And next season we will have no europe for a bloated squad. We jump from one kind of manager to another.
This appointment is what is is. Uninspiring.

looking back, TF wasn't as pragmatic as he was made out to beif pragmatism doesn't work, nothing will
Nah, I said at the time Frank was a bad appointment, a little bit of digging showed me that.
On paper, this is a better (short term) appointment IMO.
Christian Gross has a worse win percentage than Thomas Frank! All aboard
What does being pragmatic even mean in this context?Frank shouldn't have worked, he is a pragmatic manager despite a few insisting otherwise. And pragmatic doesnt work at this club, can be debated all day long whether that's right or not but they just don't work here and what happened was exactly as predicted....
What does being pragmatic even mean in this context?
Surely we want Tudor to do whatever it takes (within some level of reason) to make sure we don't get relegated. Whater he thinks that is will be pragmatic. Whatever he thinks that is may be different to what Frank thought that was.
Not having a go at you at all, just the way pragmatic is used around football managers that to me doesn't always make sense.
No that's absolutely fair, I'd say like for example the definition of 'world class' there are varied views of what that really means. What does being pragmatic even mean in this context?

It's about getting points and avoiding injuries. High tempo football creates more injuriesRight on, if only we had gone out and got one of those managers renowned for playing low tempo football. Then we'd definitely have nothing to moan about!

I keep reading it as ‘Ignore the Interim’I keep reading the title of this thread as 'Igor The Intern'
Frankly gross and grossly frank!Christian Gross has a worse win percentage than Thomas Frank!
Although, only just.
34% for Frank, 33% for Gross
That's how brick Frank has been - because Gross surely is the worst manager in the history of the club?
I think it's ok to accept that in the early months (especially if you think their are valid reasons to adopt such an approach eg shipping goals) but you have to then witness a mutation into a clearer identity and progression of play. For me pragmatic is about safety first football, and usually worrying more about what the opposition could do rather than focusing on how we are going to hurt the opposition - there were so many examples of that under Frank both in terms of player selection and general play.....
