What are some debuts that spring to mind where new players had a great game?

Mido is always one that springs to mind for me. The guy looked a class above anyone else on the pitch that day and never really performed to that level again.

He was actually rubbish apart from the goal from what I remember and go injured celebrating the goal.

Rafa VdV hit the ground running, to put it mildly. Can’t remember his exact debut, but he just ripped it up from day one. What a player. One of very very few that actually delivered on the hype!

Not sure if it was his debut or just his first home game for us, but Palacios seemed to be everywhere tackling and had the crowd cheering

For years I thought Aaron Lennon’s first game was away at Grimsby in the league cup when we lost. He came on and nutmegged the full back twice. Turns out it was his 3rd or 4th appearance when I looked it up a couple years back

Sorry to be a pedant, but Danny Rose also wasn’t on debut either. It was his first league appearance and 5th in total after 1 start and 3 off the bench in the cups.
