We do currently have 8 CBs on the books, 9 if you include Byfield.

There'd need to be a lot of clearing out before we look to bring another in

People worry too much about CB sidedness too. Its a Champ Manager quirk, rather than something that overly bothers most players. Some prefer playing on their inverted side because the passing angles are better

And I expect the lesser talents to be culled and quality to be improved on, that should be the aim of every window. Once Vusc comes into the fold then you can get your life Dragon goes because the maths makes no sense on right sided CBs. Davies won't be here next season and Byfield is miles off it based on whats in front of him. If we were to cull 3 of whats there, I fully expect someone to come in and I don't think its wild to expect them to have a left foot.

I don't think balance is a quirk

When was the last time Udogie put in a looping cross from the left? He doesn't do it. He doesn't even shoot when given an opening. I can't see he adds anything over Spence with his left foot, and indeed, Spence is a better defender.
Its not just about "does he put crosses in", its about the positions he takes out, the space he attacks etc. Spence brings things inside, Udogie takes things outside better and more regularly than Spence does which stretches teams more.

His G&A has also been ok, not massively outstanding but as a LB he has hardly the anti attacking threat made out

Vuskovic is left-sided. Right-footed, but left-side. Like Ledley.

Passing CBs often prefer playing on their inverted side. If you are right footed and LCB, it means you can play all your forward passes to straighten with a hook (which is natural). If you are right footed and RCB, balls to the CF or RWF have to be played with a slice to straighten, which is a much more cack-handed technique.

In terms of numbers though, to bring in a new senior CB now, we'd really need to clear out 2 of Danso, Dragusin and Takai first. We just don't have the squad spaces.

Thats why its not my priority and I said in 2/3 Windows. But I would be make it a LCB when it happens

Theres been a huge revisionism in standards downwards from the Poch era mate. I see people on here rate players and say we have a top 4 level squad and i'm sat there laughing at it. Spence wouldn't even have got near the squad under Poch. I like him, he's a good player, but the last coach to have us up there challenging (Conte) didn't rate him whatsoever.

I rate him highly but he is not a LB, he is a RB thats done superbly well and should be thanked for that, but the idea he takes the LB spot perm when we have a poor defensive RB who needs comp from him is ridiculous. Its the whole thing that happens at Spurs, people wanna shoehorn in players they like to not be controversial, for me Udogie LB with decent comp, and let Spence and Porro fight it out at RB, that makes us a better side than Spence at LB and signing another RB nonsense

One of things you forget about the Poch years is what beasts that team were. Eriksen and Son seemed like the weaklings in that team and they're both, what 5'11 and no push overs physically. Rose probably actually the smallest but again no shrinking violet to a bit of rough and tumble. Jan, Toby, Walker, Dier, Dembele, Alli, Kane, Lamela, Chadli etc all 6ft or over and absolute animals.
alex ferguson considered both carrick and berbatov strong on the ball .... great balance so wasn't pushovers
no i am not advocating for musclemen - that's a different strength and a bonus. but being able to hold the ball up and not getting pushed off the ball used to be requirements for professional football. maybe we have focused on watching too much U-21 football that we forget how "real mean" football actually looks like

iirc poch also included things like yoga and boxing to help players gain more strength in other ways

Absolutely. Erik Lamela. Not a muscle man. 5'11 so not overly tall, just top side of average. But he played with a controlled aggression and nastiness at times that all the top teams have. This lot just visibly wilt in a fight. Either that or just lose control like Romero and do daft sh*t. We have such weak players now.
