Radu Drăgușin

Radu appointed him. He needs to be held accountable for his agents words.

Shame for Radu that we got the FA Cup draw we did. He'll need to fight his way back into the equation another way.

Don't want to be accused of xenophobia or racism but some Rumanians have a poor reputation in "business" dealings and like to make offers that can't be refused.

I think there’s actually a really good defender in there. I think he suits Frank more and we will see he’s better than under Ange where defenders are asked to stand on the halfway line and sprint back for every counter attack. I think he could easily be one a bit like Danso in that under the right tactics he can be a reliable, non flashy, older style defender.

His agent needs to shut up though, which he seems incapable of doing. I know some will say he’s doing our job, but making comments about game time when you have just been out for a season or so with an ACL injury just makes him look an idiot.

It's a dilemma really. I'm not sure of your age, but I have decades of watching Spurs defences that were never strong and deep. Poch had his 2 great centre halves but I would have never called Wimmer or Sanchez fantastic backup even though they did well in spells. Ditto Dier in the days Poch had him. He was more midfield. Poor old Ledley had the brief Woodgate and Naybet partnerships that got me excited but mostly had to manage Dawson through games for many years. Great lad, but not elite. Even with good centre halves, we rarely had strong full-backs and centre mids to bring it all together. Apart from 16/17 of course when we conceded just 26 goals in the league under Poch.

There is part of me thinking that a full season of VDV, Romero, Danso and Dragu would stand us in good stead. Then the other part of me sees the agent talk and makes me wonder whether Dragu ever wants to really fight for his place. In this modern PL, Dragu has potential to become our best box defender. Aerially, he's probably the best already.

Of course, then there's Vuskovic, Takai, Dorrington and Phillips. We'll have to let Frank pick the bones out of that lot.

I’ve been watching Spurs since about ‘95 so have seen a few… questionable defences 😆

I agree though I think our four main defenders are actually a good set of options. If we could go forward as we are, I actually wouldn’t mind that and think we would have one of the better sets within the league. As you say, many teams don’t have great backup because how do you get four good defenders the game time? I think with Romero and VDV though we’re usually guaranteed that they will have some time of the sidelines be it through injury or suspension, and I think Dragusin and Danso will suit Frank in that as you say they are more box based, will win the headers and just stomp out attacks without always trying to play out through them.

I know it won’t help in a free flowing attacking sense, but I do think they can keep us right at the back. I think the best I can put it, is with VDV, Romerson, Danso, and Drag, I don’t feel we need to be rushing out to buy another. I’d be happy to see how those four go across a share of games, with the idea that Vusko potentially stays on loan next season, before returning to replace who ever seems most in need.

Lucky you, I've always wanted to go at Christmas since kids had their families but they wont have it, probably because today is my birthday. Missing my call from Gary Mabbutt since I gave up my season ticket.

Happy Birthday! What are the requirements for getting a call from Mabbsy on your birthday?
