Cristian Romero

Konate should have been sent off too but once again it seemed as if the referee was giving any doubtful decision in favour of Liverpool. Liverpool were given many soft decisions early on, whereas we wouldn’t get anything, and then allowed Ekitike goal and ignored that Konate should have been sent off too.

I’m also still questioning why when the referee stopped play early on due to Ekitike getting flicked by Spence, why did Liverpool take the drop ball and pass it to themselves when we had play when the referee blew the whistle? That was confusing.
It's in the rules, I guess, that any dropped ball in a game involving Liverpool, should by default be given to Liverpool.

The foul on Romero for goal was way more of a foul than the spence one where the ref blew right away. As I understand it play should have continued and reviewed if a goal was scored.
That and konate not being sent off are issues we should be highlighting.

Honestly it makes no sense. I thought they’d get the drop ball and kick it long to give us possession back but no, they passed it back to the keeper so that they could retain possession. You just know that if we did the same then the whole of Liverpool support would be in tears of injustice.

That would probably result in an actual replay of the game.*

* Provided, of course, Liverpool dropped points.

The way I saw it for the pass it looked like he thought he could play Muani through on goal and tried to do that. He failed at it, it happens.

The red is stupid. Don't lash out. Seems obvious Konate was trying to provoke a reaction, having flattened him staying on top of him. While the reaction is understandable on a human level he has to do better.
Playing it with his left foot though….
When have we ever seen him do that

He can be good he can be blah and he can be awful.
And its for those reasons I dont think he is world class. And also why I wouldnt be bothered if he left. Got bigger problems than him

I’ve seen people on social media claim that we have the best CB pairing in north London which is laughable. As much as I hate them, I can admit they are streets ahead of us in just about every department, but particularly in centre back. Their CB’s are miles ahead of ours.

Don't know. He backs himself to do the difficult and ambitious thing. Several times just in this game that came off and helped us progress the ball in a good way. As it should be imo. That's him taking responsibility. I wish we had more players occasionally giving the ball away in that way because of a combination of quality and ambition on the ball. Rather than always checking back and being too careful.

Him getting completely unnecessarily sent off is a different thing he has to take responsibility for though.

Hey I said it many times we don’t take risks
So when a player goes for it, I’m all in
But taking it with your wrong foot was odd for me

To me part of taking risks is letting players with quality play with freedom and do what they think is right there and then in the moment even if it's not the typical thing they do.

You spot a opportunity to really hurt the opposition you either take it or you don't. If the instincts aren't there to take those opportunities we become bland and predictable.

I guess Conte had a different alternative. Really well drilled buildup routines. Not seeing much of that from us now. I guess we have the GK/CB on the ball, wait for the press, up to a midfielder who then passes it wide to a full back?

Not seen any routines apart from throw in ones
And they don’t work
