We went to see Maverick done with an Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall last year
Was immense and to top if off Tom Cruise was there to introduce it and sat just above us
He got a standing ovation just for waling on stage
And of course Harold Faltermeyer , Jerry Bruckheimer and a few others behind it were there too
Was an unreal experience

Free bird scene must have been amazing.

Sounds a great experience but it was a fairly rubbish film IMO, I get the nostalgia but Cruise has become a parody of himself now......loved his early stuff, now it just screams over indulgence

I thought it was great because it fool an old character and used that as the basis for a modern film
And the use of the music was top notch too
Personal choice of course

Agree, laughed my head of when he made Reacher, a 5ft 7 inch dwarf in high heels trying to play a hardman.

I thought it was great. Simple. Maybe 15 mins too long. But gave that thrill of someone yu like being awesome. Maverick not tom.

Yeah was a good cinema experience but instantly forgettable imv - which is fine as cinema should offer these types of big action packed event movies, as they arguably make the most of the whole going to the cinema experience, but you need variety also and directors/studios putting out stuff with originality and artistic merit too.

Ofcourse. You need all types of movies. To make you feel all types of emotions or make you think. And movies don't have to please everyone. We all have different tastes and can be in different moods. There are some movies i didn't like first time i watched and loved next time around.

Anyway watched the conclave last night enjoyed it.

100% agree. Just not pretentious tossy gonads like The Favourite and Poor Things. Basically anything by that director.

Top Gun Maverick was a great film for the whole screening to getting absolutely hammered to. It was an Oasis cover band of a film.

Bugonia - fairly straight-forward for a Yargos movie, probably his most approachable to date - great turns from Plessons & Stone, tension ramps up nicely and the ending lands, albeit somewhat telegraphed. Have not seen the Korean movie it is based on/a remake of (Save the Green Planet) but will probably track it down and see how it compares.
8/10

See my edit - not seen the original, how did you rate it?

I found it refreshing and off the wall. It was one of those Tartan Asia Extreme Korean releases from the early/mid-00s. When Oldboy, Tale Of Two Sisters, Memories of Murder and A Bittersweet Life all came out. So I kind of view it as one of those golden age classics. Not as stylish as those others, but quite weirdly funny.
