What would YOUR priority signing be in the Jan transfer window?

I don't think we'd get Henry on a 6 month loan considering he is out of contract in the summer.

If we're going to sign another left back (I personally think we need to as we are incredibly unbalanced when Udogie cannot play) then I think we have to make a decision on whether we want proper competition for Udogie (that would likely be an expensive player) or a back-up who at least will allow us to play the same way if Udogie is out.

A player that really impressed me in games against us and also impressed me in other games I saw that his club played is Fredrik André Bjørkan at Bodo Glimt. I like his attitude and work rate, the way he gets forward to support attacks, the way he links play and his creativity. He is 27 years old so not young and hasn't exactly had a stellar career but I think he would do pretty well in the premier league and not be expensive in terms of transfer fee or wages. Could be one of those smart sort of signings that allow us to spend almost all of our money on the positions where we need a true first team upgrade.

Haven't all the Bodo Glimt players who have left for bigger things come back with their tails between their legs quite rapidly? I.e. its one of those team but not individuals outfits - like Ten Hag's Ajax or the old Monaco or Dynamo Kiev sides.

Oh I’m calling that the ideal window
I’d take any first team ready player as progress
I do agree the squad looks awfully bloated
I’d be reviewing every player over 27 and make a judgement as to whether we keep them
Issue as last is selling our players seems impossible
We still have Bissouma who no one wanted and he will leave on a free next summer
That seems to be the only way for them to go

Imagine we don’t buy Paulina and use that money to throw maybe £80m at forest for Anderson. That would improve the midfield base instantly in an area we’re awfully weak and also have no one coming through in. And he of course passes forward better Than any midfielder in the league

lol - nothing wrong with a bit of idealism I guess. I'm just hoping we can get to some pragmatism and realise this quantity over quality model is our downfall and has been for a very long time.

What you also did was a very rare thing from Spurs fans. You actually talked about departures with almost as much weight as arrivals. It's probably the most important thing as we head to next summer's window. Davies and Bissouma walk on a free. Muani and Palhinha are only on loan. So we create a few spaces. However, there are probably 7 or 8 more that we may need to be ruthless on. You obviously don't sell them all in one summer, but you need to make inroads to make progress.

We are horrendous at selling
On par with with United
It’s scarily bad
We need to get rid of at least one CM and one wide player
And choose what we’re doing with some CBs

Yeah, I do find the centre half thing intriguing outside of the main 3. Obviously, Vuskovic has already made it at 18 even though he's never kicked a ball in England. Clearly, Dragusin is dead man walking and his agent will get his world class player out of here anyway. Takai is here just to sell shirts and has a chronic injury that will never heal whilst Ash Phillips is already written off even though he's looking good at the top of the Championship a few months after his 20th b'day. As for Dorrington, who knows as nobody watches the SPL.

So it's nailed on we'll buy a centre half in the summer

Dorrington imo would be a great DM
Can pass and move with the ball extremely well for his age
Philips is done I agree
Won’t comment on Takai because I don’t know there
Agree on drago

lol - I was only publishing the common fan narratives I've read about these players. I don't really know anything about them.

As for Dorrington, what's strange is that I don't remember him moved up into midfield but I do remember Abbott serving in the 21's as a centre half. Dorrington always looked very classy to me in the very few times I've seen him.

I really like both of them
Dorrington won’t make it at our level as a CB IMO but could potentially as DM
Abbott just had the knack of knowing where to be and also where other should be. When i went to the youth games he was constantly talking. Shame about his injury

Said this before, but depends on how Frank wants us to play, both this season and going forward.

If he thinks we'll be able to significantly improve our possession game this season and that's a priority a lot of options are on the table.

If he thinks that's unlikely or not the priority at the moment the biggest priority would for me be a proper target man striker, someone that can be fairly dominant in duels up against PL centre backs. It's the way to make the current way we're playing at least somewhat functional. Give us a way of getting up the pitch when we can't play through the middle. But for the club's sake would need to be someone well rounded enough to also work with different ways of playing.

Alternatively a Kudus like player to play on the left. Semenyo for example. Someone physical and technical enough to do quite a lot on their own.

You'd have to hope with the change in leadership we might actually go about selling players in a pragmatic manner.

However when I think of Vinai's spell at Arsenal I don't know if they were any better at selling, definitely better at buying at latter end but that might go hand in hand with the statute and reputation of the club. So I don't know really what to expect, I can at least be semi hopeful now that Levy is gone but it remains to been if anything attitude and approach wise has actually changed.

They sold some HG players
But I don’t remember them selling any signings that stand out
They have gone through 2 squad iterations under Lego head
The only obvious mess one was the Japanese guy leaving for free

I suppose you could argue letting team leaders like Ozil and Auba go were bold decisions and largely against the will of the fans at the time, but for their greater good.

That at least is the sort of thing I'd like to see at Spurs. Of course right now we don't have any players of that stature but in the past there were moments when we could have sold the likes of Eriksen or Dele at peak times and reinvested the money to make the squad overall better. We'd be in a better position right now if we had done so.

They did give Auba a new contracts first…

Yeah I'm not claiming Arsenal under Vinai were a bastion of great football governance. That's kind of my concern. I don't know if he's going to make any difference. Just looking for crumbs at the back of the sofa if you will.

It’s more about the DoFs imo
