Will Lankshear

He's got 3 goals in 5 games. Pretty decent so far. I still think he'll be sold next summer, unless he has some monster season. Even then, another loan (hopefully PL this time) is more likely. He won't get into our squad anytime soon, so the more he plays the better.

I think he's got as much chance as Moore and Donley of making it. Gray and Vuskovic are the nearest we have to sure things, but I'd put that other trio not far behind them. Lankshear reminds me a lot of Kane - his physicality alongside his killer instinct will bear him in very good stead.

Or he could become one of our main two or three CFs. Neither Solanke or Richy are commanding the position or likely to be here long-term. Just like Kane did with Ade and Soldado.
It is too premature to suggest that Solanke will not be here long term. Although I wonder why break so many players. Solanke did not have these injury problems before he signed for us, and that seem to be a common occurrence these days.

He has also scored those goals while Oxford are down in 22nd at the moment.

They should have beaten Leicester though. But hopefully he continues to take his chances this season.

That's all on Ange for me.

I mainly meant not long-term as he's 28 now, so probably got around 3 seasons left at the top.

Potentially there's a scenario in 12 months that we back Muani to be our first choice, while reviewing Lankshear and Tel for the back-up roles. Richy would probably go before Solanke, but at this point in time I guess it could be any 2/3 from those 5 who we go forward with after this season.

yeah, Solanke's contract finishes 3 years after Richi's. That will probably be the defining factor.

Yeah I agree
That instinct is the rare beast that doesn’t get coached … it’s natural
He also puts in the extra hours from what I’ve been told

That's his greatest asset and its priceless, when I first saw him I thought he's just a big boy who scores at youth level but over the last season at that level it was obvious he's a natural goal scorer. I don't think he'll get the opportunity here as he's not an eye catching player and we have a history of going for a name strikers. He's going to be a great signing for some team if they take a chance.

That would be a disappointment.

Fully agree
He is learning every game at Oxford
We will also not the temper chance on youth unless we have a really settled manager
Timing is everything at any club

Our record of signing CFs is atrocious. We've had zero hits since Berbatov 20 years ago. Whereas the memory of Kane as an academy graduate looms large.

I can see Lankshear being our 3rd CF next season, perhaps alongside Muani and a new signing
