I mean this is a Spurs forum, people are allowed to speak about Spurs and what this might mean for the club. Unless I am severely missing the tone, there isn't much negativity about it, just people discussing what it might mean..........

International breaks does funny things to people I suppose

Maybe they are talking about the wider Spurs fanbase?

Well been a few references to on here, but yeh I get that too,

As someone said yesterday, given that these have been stood behind Levy pulling the strings for 24 years all told, its not actually outrageous to say, lets wait and see.

Simon Jordan speaks massively wisely about it, albeit some till say "well he is Levy mate" but he isn't wrong on alot of what he says

I hate these weeks with no football to watch.

They should do it over the summer.

At least they are positive about the cash injection unlike some who don't think it will make any difference. There is supposed to be a fan forum coming up soon , can't remember when , I did have an email invitation to apply just wonder if anyone will be allowed to ask Vinai about the Australian bank loan to confirm it is about cash flow problems.
Bit of talk in there about the January transfer window , I'm not too sure we will be very active, Deki is supposed to be back next month, Radu coming back , we have only seen minutes of Munai , Dom also to come back and we can't find a place in the CL squad for Tel, unless we have another plague of injuries I don't see us signing anyone .

You're talking in terms of numbers though, there are a few positions we could upgrade on and quite frankly need improving on if we are serious about competing. Whether we do that in January or not is another matter, but just because we potentially have a close to fit squad doesn't mean we shouldn't/wont do business....

i think people don't understand how finances work.

for example our annual wages and player amortization is about gbp300 mil a year or two ago.
so to oversimplify the scale of things 100mil is about a third better which is huge. or blow it on perhaps 3-4 60mil transfers immediately.

of course there are areas to improve outside of just better player quality - like getting world class pros to run and manage the world class medical and rehab facilities, improving the youth development and scouting system etc, and all that goes to improving on pitch results. and you can't argue against vinai's experience (unless he is a secret gooner, who is seeking to undermine spurs from within)

of course this assumes that the performances of team with TF and the current squad doesn't dramatically collapse and that with key players recovering, there is already existing quality waiting to be realised.

We'd need to be able to move players on in order to create space in the squad.

We should always look to upgrade. Sure frank and lange have ideas for jan.

He mostly does, but I'm often left wondering why he was such a failure at running a football club himself. He must have made some pretty bad decisions in this football money train to take his own club into administration and lose most of his own fortune in the process. Levy on the other hand rode the football money train brilliantly and helped us grow organically to the level we are today.

It's only a third (huge) if we get that £100m every year. Because amortisation and wages have to be paid every year.

It's why owners bankrolling clubs is so dangerous. Because they have to keep on doing it. Otherwise you have to start selling to reduce those costs.

2008 financial crisis. Banks were desperate for money, so they called in debt. You couldn't pay, f you. Same happened to liverpool and other clubs and a lot of businesses.

The way I think about it is we have something like £320m in transfer debt and £50m in collections from player sales. That net £270m has to be paid to other clubs in the timescales of the payment terms in the purchases. We've just made that a whole lot easier with the £100m injection. That means we could do something like buy an £80m player and pay half up front and amortise the other half over 3 years. That would still leave £60m to offset the £270m.

As you say, it's huge in cashflow terms.

Yes, but he started running that business in 2000. He had 8 clear years to mitigate the crisis by having a stable business but clearly failed to do so where other chairmen rode through it.

Many other clubs didn't. It was a part of the reason ffp rules were introduced. (agreed in 2009)
We remember jordan failing because he's in the media everyday. There were plenty of other clubs that changed hands. Premirr league clubs were less at risk due to larger revenue but even liverpool failed.

He'll admit himself he made mistakes though.

It’s not even been asked about by the press which I find odd

Every cash increase is great for cash
It’s the killer for all clubs
It’s what I kept on saying will hurt more and more unless clubs sell well or en mass
Chelsea have done the latter and sold volume.
Pool have sold well and are the shining light along with Brighton and Bournemouth
