***Spurs vs Leeds United***, PL, 4th October 2025 at Elland Road

What: Leeds United vs Spurs, PL match
When: Saturday 4th October 2025, 12.30pm K.O
Where: Elland Road, Leeds

No league wins since West Ham but no losses. Plenty of angst about style of play, which will/should probably be somewhat tempered by remembering how many injuries we have in attacking roles.

Also….no wins in the games before an international break since early October 2023 at Luton – which was also a Saturday 12.30pm kickoff, oh those were the days: a win when having ten men and a clean sheet!

For this match I’d go with:

Bentancur Paulinha Sarr
Kudus Richarlison Odebert

Bergvall, Tel and Simons to come off the bench in the second half as needed.

I’m going to say we are going to close that two-year cycle and get a hard-fought win here: 2-1 to us, Richarlison double.

Leeds can't score for brick, so I'd play our quickest transitioners in the double pivot. Assuming Romero and Muani won't be fit yet.

Resoning- Udogie has looked like the best option going forward on the left....

Richy can't trap a bag of cement....

So I woukd play Bergvall and Xavi as 2 false nines with Sarr running from deep....

Control the game , keep the ball and play some nice stuff for a change....

Some might call me a football genius for playing that way , others might say I should keep my ideas for Sunday morning football.

Though I do quite like Sarr in the 10 away from home being more of a presser, in which case Xavi wide left, Sarr at 10 and Tel on the bench

Oh I say! 4 4 2? false 9s? that's so very last year or the year before..........next it will be jumpers for goalposts and no VAR.................(Mind you, it would be interesting to see Spence and Udogie on the same side of the pitch.........)

It's an extremely difficult game, a real test of our spirit. It's a cause of concern that our forward can not keep possession and we have to rely on our midfield and defenders to score.

Definitely Tel. Richy still needs to be managed from an injury prevention point of view. Tel is due one bouncing in off his arse. His cross leading to the Pahlinha goal against Wolves might also have been a confidence boost.
