***Spurs vs West Ham Untd***, PL, 13th September 2025 at The London Stadium

Good, not great performance. Helped out by some brick defending and the red card making it a stroll in the second half.

Mostly controlled, but struggling to create chances up until the opener. The kind of performance that will end up in some frustrating games, but no Richarlison, Solanke or Kolo Muani, Simons starting his first game. We looked in control and given our quality we're winning that game most of the time even without the non marking at corners and red card from them.

Need to improve on our ball progression and of course chance creation, but given how defensively solid we look it's OK if that takes time - as it typically will when being defensively solid and controlled.

If the ref and VAR had not committed that calamitous fudge-up in canceling Romero's goal and not giving a pen for the shove on VdV at the next corner, we'd have cracked them open far sooner.

We created plenty of chances from set pieces and some good crosses put in. If we had a proper CF in there it would've been more.

Understat has us with an xG of 0.24 at half time.

I agree that some ref decisions could/should have gone our way, that would have changed that. We also had several situations from set pieces and crosses where smallish margins could have seen us create better chances.

Just also think we need to improve our chance creation in open play. And that the second half makes the first half look better than it was.

That was pretty flawless

Looked a threat in open play and from set plays
Defended well
Manager took off players and rotated the squad well
Saved energy by playing keep ball for 25 mins
Emptied their soulless bowl by 70 mins
It was shocking how empty it was for the last 5-10 minutes. I know every club has fans leave early, and more so if their team is losing, but that was embarrassingly empty at the end.

I don't think Tel helped, we put some decent balls in the box and he didn't really move towards it

I can't remember a West Ham side so gutless. We did what we had to. I can certainly see the players working harder when we lose the ball and keeping a shape when defending, there will be harder games but this will build confidence. There was no point in this game I thought we won't win and I've not felt like that for a long time.

The xG was low because we hadn't got a CF attacking the balls put in, especially at corners. If a proper CF got on the end of a couple of those and would either score or create a dangerous situation.

Let's hope so
Wait till they sack Potter and get Jose in !!

and to think under Moyes, they were top 10 most years, won the ECL but it wasn't good enough for the fans

Like most fans, too many fans listen to pundits who always over hype average players and blame the manager for poor results. Love to read or hear a so called expert in the media to start making players take some responsibility for their errors and lack of grit. I've never rated Potter but media loved him, I can't think of anyone who could get a game out of those fraudsters in West Ham shirts today.

I have no idea why potter was rated so highly at Brighton , from memory I think they went 1/4 a season without winning a game?

Very dominant and a fantastic win, but weirdly still not creating that many chances. All of them seemed to come from corners. Hopefully once Xavi gets up and running that'll improve a bit. Very good start.

Tel was making his first start this season and as striker. Xavi was making his debut for us. Xavi has also had very little time in training.

So there was no cohesion between the front players. It’s like how International players can have all the quality but lack cohesion when playing as a team. Give it time and it will come. Even if it seems unlikely that Tel will ever be our regular first choice striker.
