He's still a lord and therefore a UK lawmaker. He's gone now. And good riddance.
I would even suggest he's in the murky shadows of the Labour Party 'hierarchy' pulling strings.

I thought the Mandelson appointment might be strategic because of what he DID know. This Mandelson stuff - has it the potential to bring down the government? Stories coming out that McSweeney pushed for him to be appointed. Given the intelligence held and released by the yanks surely we knew or at least were told at a high level what they knew and the risk of future public disclosures.
Absolutely unbelievable that this sh*t occurred within months of such a prestigious appointment.
And if bring down the government sounds dramatic remember it wasn't partygate, downing street wallpaper or staying at his mates flat that did for Boris in the eyes of his backbenchers it was the appointment of Chris Pincher that brought him down.
This comes after Starmer appointed another ally and friend Tulip Siddique to a key ministerial position when the impending investigation into her family affairs must have been known about in some quarters.
If he did i doubt he expected it to break just after Ange-gate. Whole impression now is that Starmer is just a dullard, personality-devoid Boris, presiding over a complete circus act with scandal after scandal as everything feels as though it's on fire!I thought the Mandelson appointment might be strategic because of what he DID know.![]()

I mean lets be honest everyone is doing trade deals with the US to avoid the tariffs. What we got was a 5% discount on what they gave the EU, which isn't down to sending randy mandy over its down to Trump liking the UK.Don't you believe in Realpolitik? Did we perhaps only get the May 2025 Trade Deal because Trump's old noncing mate was orchestrating it?
Would you morally oppose unstable coke head George Osbourne becoming as his replacement, is that too big a security risk?
Why should I for example be bothered about what a foreign politician or official gets up to when I comment on officials appointed by our own elected politicians? Do I need to research and comment on the appointments of all other ambassadors to the US?Right wingers bothered by Mandelsons noncery and not Trumps. Not sure they really care personally.
