I’m not a fan as such, but the world just feels like it’s eating itself at the moment.
So many hateful things happen, and people try to solve it with yet more hate.
Did I agree with the things he said? No, but do I think the way to solve that is to go and shoot him dead? Also no. Apparently his two very young daughters and wife were at the event. Regardless of things their dad said they don’t deserve that. Just a very hate filled world nowadays.

Also the ones celebrating think of themselves as the good guys.

Yeah there’s quite a few celebratory threads on social media etc. I just can’t see how anyone can celebrate this stuff, I get people being offended by things and understandable in some cases of course, but I can’t get people celebrating deaths of this sort of level of person.

That was his business wasn't it? It's a money making exercise of getting viral clips of "Destroying libs" without ever debating against adults.
This is horrendous though, leaving two kids behind.....Even if he had mixed up views on gun crime or people's freedom to be who they are, celebrating the likes of Kirk or a Ben Shapiro getting assassinated is crass and lacks humanity (if that's what people are doing).
I'm casting spells and chanting in his honour, a David Cross reference, exactly the type of person Kirk would not go up against in debate, but that shouldn't be a death sentence in and of itself. It does seem relevant to bring up someone's comments about gun crime deaths lacking compassion, even if it's potentially too soon - His family and he don't deserve this but when will it ever end?
You wonder about the shooter, is it really going to ge a deranged "lefty" type person who strongly disagreed with his views? Time will tell.
Debate is one word for his 'prove me wrong' rhetoric. The guy was trash. Spewing hate for his own financial gain.
People get shot and killed all the time over there just going about their lives and not bothering anyone. I feel sorry for them, but Republicans don't give a brick as it doesn't benefit them financially or politically. I'm sure they'll be taking all the wrong lessons from today though.

The civil war never really ended. Until it separates into two countries, it's never going to find peace.
The majority were not either dems or republicans though. Either non voters or swingers (wahoo).
People are getting pushed further to either side.
Violence or destruction never helps your argument unless you destroy the other side. It just pushes people in the middle away.

It's the relentless us vs them polarization that's creating the space for acts like these to happen.
It's deeply tragic for his family and the country, but I'm not at all surprised.

Not an act to celebrate, tragedy for his family. And the consequences beyond those for his friends and family won't be positive either. Absolutely nothing to celebrate here, as much as I disliked him.

Human life is valuable. And there's a deep philosophical debate about the right to end another's life based on actions. However extra judicial killings like this are only destined to break societal consensus.
You may dislike a person. And you may feel they contributed to your suffering. But we must work to live and thrive in a system where apparatus exists where there is control and guardrails. This is anarchy.
