There is absolutely a degree of Daniel being pretty fudged off at how Parrish essentially 'won' that 'battle' and the optical meltdown. Regardless of what the motivations were to get the player, the best bit of it is we have ended up with a top target from the start of the summer which tells me that Frank is all-in. Love that. Thus far he has got three players that he really wanted. This is huge progress IMO...

I'm sure Levy didn't enjoy that.

I also think had Arsenal gone in for Eze early on and that thing never happened we'd be seeing the same strategy from the club with Simons being one of several targets.

Don't know how they compare as never really watched either of them but Sky reporting £67.5 million for Eze who is 27 and we get Simons at 22 cheaper, Simons not PL tested but do we have a better deal ?

The only negative is he has only really played in leagues where players struggle when they move from there to the premier league. I’m sure he will be fine though.

Overall good vision and awareness. Through balls, linking with others, getting out of tight spaces.

You're probably right about the merchant bit and yeah not what I meant. Moreso he's very good at spotting runs and playing passes into the space for them to run on to.

Honestly he could be the making of a player like Johnson who despite me not really rating I know he makes great open space runs that are rarely spotted. Simmons will spot them and can complete the pass.

He wasn't a flop or anything at RB he's done well, it's just to some extent you kind of expected him to be one of the absolute very best in the bundesliga. A bit like say the impact Wirtz had at Bayer. Overall he's still been very good, hence why he's still costing 50m.

I didn't really follow him at PSV so I couldn't really comment tbh, but I think you're right it was considered a success but they couldn't afford to buy him.

We're probably bottom of the top 6 clubs in attractiveness. Whether that's prestige/history/wages/fees. So if any of those others are fishing for the same players, we're up against it.

So we tread lightly? try to flaunt ourselves to the best of our ability? Open the wallet?
Get'em round to show off our pad? And sometimes just wait until those other clubs at the disco, already have a dance at the end of the evening.

Agreed.

Part of our problem that also has been Johnson's problem has been the lack of complimentary skills, lacking balance. Kudus made that better, Maddison's injury made it worse, if this signing gets completed it again makes it makes it better again and potentially much better with Maddison also returning at some point.

Maddison showed an ability to play deeper early in his Spurs career and I think moving him forwards and losing that build up and tempo dictation in hindsight was a mistake Ange never really recovered from (appreciate the system had to change in light of Maddison's injury v Chelsea but it did not change for the better and why it wasnt re-implemented on Maddison's return im unsure)
