Eberechi Eze

Agree with your logic but that’s not on rice imo
It’s on arteta not being as good a coach as people think IMO
And of course their football getting more and more profitable
Eze changes that’s
Agreed, it's not the players it's the manager.
They should be doing much better than they are.
Arteta is getting an easy ride from the press, is this his third "has to win something" season?

When did Eze become this hugely talented game changer that he appears to be portrayed as now?
He's 27 playing at Crystal Palace, how many caps does he have, why are only us and arsenal in for him, he's good but for me he's not a game changer for us and definitely not for arsenal.
He's an upgrade on martinili and trossard but I can't see him dislodging anyone else from their side.
He is a game changer because he plays the game at his pace IMO
Another like Kudus who just does things the rest of the side can’t and even more is at arsenal where they are all now robots …. In my opinion of course

A rapist?
Partey was a good player, a very good one
But they don’t need so many defensive options if they want to actually win the title
They need game changers
Any time I watched them, which wasn't much granted, partey was the stabiliser, he snuffed out danger and knitted the team together.
I will watch with interest at how their solid defence gets on without him.

This is your image of things or you were on this call? Where is the certainty you have about this coming from? Your bias or that’s how we always do it?

Maybe. But it doesn’t quite stack up. Reports were we agreed a deal. And the goons are paying 10m more.

Of course. Who would t get the best deal for their club from their prized asset. I’d assume they were briefing the goons all the way along, and anyone else who had an interest. Wouldn’t you?

The is nothing to suggest the converse either! Apart from bias and hackneyed narratives.

Essentially your and others beef is we are opportunistic with transfers. We won’t just slap the cash down and be done with it. Instead we will look for value.

In this instance, once it looked like the goons (or anyone else) weren’t interested in Eze anymore we had a free run at this deal. Once the goons came in and offered 10m more we probably stepped away.

There are other players. And it’s not like we lost a deposit or the cash. We will spend it on the right player. If that means holding onto the cash and giving more resources to Frank in the future that is not a terrible thing either. Frank still needs to see how these current players shake down for him. How will Tel evolve? Does Odobert have a role to play? Can he step up in the limelight? How players perform in the side on match day can be different to how they look in training.

Whatever about your 'wanting receipts' for what I've said, all good...but I will absolutely refute the following:

No. No that isn't my 'beef'. Negotiate all you want, but negotiations work two ways. Read the room. And if Levy did not want to pay what Parrish wanted in ad-ons, move on and take the public hit! If, as you seem to suggest, Parrish was setting us up to fail, then how many Diaz's does Levy have to go through in order to read a room? And IF you are going to go for high ticket 'camera ready' targets, then be prepared to pay more!

Believe what you want mate, none of it matters, the facts are we thought we'd got him, we thought we could haggle a bit, and when we eventually decided to give Parrish what he wanted it was too late!

He could have been a game changer here, although not convinced, really don't see it at arsenal.
If he can't see that and his heart has ruled his head and he has chosen to go to arsenal then I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Its also the fact that they don't really seem close to winning something. Liverpool cruised to the title last season because City were in transition (look ominous this season with their new players) and Arsenal were a very distant second. Never really laid a glove on them all season. Watching us beat them in pre-season and their game against Man Utd says to me they haven't improved and if anything look less likely to dominate games. Will Eze change that an shift them up a gear? We shall see.

Rice can do that IMO but with more “more”
They then slot it Zubamendi and that midfield is better
I don't doubt rice or his quality, but I always felt partey allowed the others to play their best, I do wonder how losing him will impact them.
Like all signings zubimendi is currently an unknown, hopefully he flops 😁.

Is it just me or are city very under the radar this season?
They've made some really solid signings and although nobody is writing them off I'd have expected more hype.

Palace were not going to sell before Thursday and seemingly Eze made a choice between two clubs, seemingly as simple as that when all is said and done

Also seems that from various reports Arsenal have always been lingering in the background.

That said, this one stings like no other for various reasons

I doubt we will get anything over the line anywhere near what he would have bought to the table

He is a classy player
He may flop… but I doubt it
I do think though they signed the wrong 9
I rate Gyokeres like I also rated (and probably still do) Hollund. But in the right team. I don’t think Arsenal are the right team for him to excel and I’m reasonably confident on that one

City are still IMO in need of goals
If they get them via the new signings then they will win the league IMO
Haaland will still get his 30-40
But the others didn’t way in at all last year and it was clear why
They will be more creative this season but also more physical

They've spent a lot of money, and some of it in the right places, but not necessarily on the right players imo.

You were complaining we negotiated too much and lost the deal. Wasn't that your point? This is a contradictory!

We should attempt these transfers. Why bother with Kudus? Or many others we have signed. You win some, and lose others. What we don't know is how desperate Frank was for the player. Not as despereate as us fans is likely. There are other fish.
And IF you are going to go for high ticket 'camera ready' targets, then be prepared to pay!
Clearly we were. Which isn't like us. Was an odd signing. And if the goons didn't come back in we'd have signed him. Big deal? To our fans yes. In the grand scheme of things probably not. We'll sign someone else, who maybe more suited or have more potential.

One other thing I'd throw in: look a Guehi, he has been clear, he only wants to sign for pool. Palace's hands are tied. They either let him run down his contract with them, or sell for below market price to pool. They could sell for more to us for example. Eze was likely more inclinded to the goons, which made our bid oppotunistic. Once the goons came back in, even if we'd matched the numbers, the player will probably chose them. Hopefully we made the point to the agent that he'll be first choice with us. But I don't think that would move the needle in this case.

Arsenal offered him terms at the end of last season
