What's become abundantly clear this window is that old habits die hard at our football club.

So far, several months of work have accounted to the Kudus and Takai signings, the sale of Sonny and a bunch of loans for our best young guns. In other words, once again so much of the important action will happen in the last 2 weeks of the window.

I know the most important thing is that we improve this squad for the long term, but it does grate on you with this constant lastminute.com behaviour. Personally, I always looks forward to the 1st Sep when I know it is done. I'd happily have the transfer window open from 1-31 July and the 1-7 January and be done with it. I reckon it would amount to the same thing for our club.

We're joint top of the league and are Super Cup Vice Champions

So, like everyone else then.
Most deals happen towards the end. That's just how it is, unless you are willing to pay WAY over the top.

Perhaps, but other clubs dip in and out of the club. We feel like the permanent members.

Be interesting to see how many of the 20 PL clubs do significant business in these last 10 days of the window.

Yeah, I thought Levy was improving at getting in players earlier but this window has been a step back.

TBF we got Kudus early for quite big money and would've likely had MGW in early too, for an equally big fee, if it wasn't for whatever happened with that release clause.

We do have a long history of late transfers, though, and probably historically more so than many other clubs (although that's just speculation as I don't really know a lot about other clubs transfer dealings).

Then again, lots of other clubs have completed big signigns on deadline day too, according to a bit of quick Googling:
- Rooney to Manure
- Suarez to Liverpool
- Makelele to Chelski
- Ashley Cole to Chelski
- Tevez to West Ham
- Özil to Arsenal
- Ronaldo to Manure
- Robinho to City
- Martial to Manure
- Cole Palmer to Chelski
- Partey to Arsenal
- Torres to Chelski
- Nunes to City
- Aubameyang to Arsenal
- Antony to MAnure
- Enzo Fernandez to Chelski

You get my drift...then of course there's van der Vaart, Keane, Lloris, Alli, Moura, Johnson - and quite possibly Eze.
