Super league was a bad idea.
Furlough for staff? 100%.
Most those furloughed would be caterers etc... could have gone back to their home country and lived like a king for a few months. Instead they were stuck here having to come to work paying travel expenses and more taxes. To do fudge all. They were worse off financially.

Bolded part - I think you might be mixing up furlough which was available to pretty much all business with the additional government loan to businesses that became available later in the pandemic. I think it was just us and Utd who qualified for that (can’t recall the criteria).

There certainly were a few other clubs who tried to furlough their non-playing staff. Not sure whether any went through with it after the uproar.
I think it might have been Brighton who said they would make up the 20% of income that employees lost by being put on furlough, which seemed like a fair compromise, although that wouldn’t cover staff who were earning more than the amount that furlough was capped at.

From a Skysports News article in 2020 it looks like it was Norwich, not Brighton who were going to top up employee salaries.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine did furlough staff.

Liverpool and Bournemouth also announced they would be using the furlough scheme but reversed that position after fan push-back.

Other clubs a mix between definitely not furloughing, not furloughing “at this time”and reviewing options.

You could top it up though right?

I think for those staff working on contracts for match days and in the club shop etc, the £2500 cap would have covered alot of it.

Yes. I mentioned Brighton had said they were going to do that but was just editing my post to say it was Norwich and add some info about other clubs.

Interesting from the article I posted that quite a few clubs came to agreements with playing staff to cut or defer wages. Not sure if those examples were backtracked on later.

I find it hard to believe people were supporting the decision to not sign anyone for 3 windows and saying it was a good idea.

I wasn’t using the forum so much during that period, but perhaps people were trying to give possible reasons or explanations why we did that, which you took as supporting it. Giving a reason why a decision was made is not the same as supporting that decision. But I can see how it could look that way if it’s a direct response to a critical post.

Poch turned down players
That’s been made quite clear by a lot of people at the club
And it may have been the right choice, impossible to know
Still say the biggest issue at the time was not changing or adding a new coach to the team

Like all discussions, nuance was taken as a flag in the sand

I read Poch book when he turned round and said he turned down players on Aura, you mention that and its taken as defence of the overall transfers.

I think not having a proper DoF at the time was a big issue as well. If we’d had a Paratici back then just flipping a few players for a zero net spend it would have all helped.

That's because you have a brain that understands what it was and the purpose of it.
You can explain that to someone else and even if it what you say makes sense or is logical/factual it still doesn't shift the needle.
Unfortunately this is rife in life at the moment.
 
Went past Hotspur Way on Friday.

Have to say looked very impressive. But one thing I would add, it was so immaculate, that gave me the impression that Levy is the kind of person who changes his boxers every time he farts
 
Watched our bit on MOTD for the Burnley game, even Jonathon Pearce coming to the defence of Levy and quoting Spurs nett transfer spend for the last three seasons.

Does spending fortunes guarantee goals, Manure three signings this window to produce goals cost 225.7 million euros(transfermkt) , goals scored so far 000.

They have bright names without any philosophy or structure … they have needed a better keeper since they signed Onana
Reminds me of Arsenal when everyone said you need a striker
 
United have a lot of work to do on their team/squad but getting their attack sorted first isn't the worst way of doing it - they offered no threat last season and teams knew their defense or GK would eventually cough up goals- at least with a potentially dangerous attack it means they have a chance to out-gun their opponents
