*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Burnley FC ***

I like the bravery of Bergval taking the ball with his back to goal and VdV being progressive with his ball carrying. Kudus has been good. We haven't been much better than okay really.

My thoughts so far. Steady as she goes. But a lack of tempo is STILL an issue. Gray, should be nowhere near this squad, as he is simply not good enough. Porro and Romero are as dumb as rocks. Confounding stupidity from the pair of them!

Romero playing those hospital passes again. Just give it easy and short.

Johnson's body shape actively makes people pass not to him.
Johnson doesn’t want the ball, the only time he looks interested is when he can chase the ball and even then if its a 50/50 he backs out. Unless we can use him as a back post merchant like Ange did then we may aswell get rid of him, he will probably bring in a good fee after last season.

He hasn’t had a pass to his side
When he did get one it was walkers to get and he actually beat walker in the race/battle
I've said it before but I don't think our other players see any point passing to him. It doesn't matter whether he plays on the right or the left he's always a ghost, he's always the player with the fewest touches. So he's either doesn't make himself available for good passes which I doubt as I have seen him previously taken up some really good open space or they know his limitations and so just don't bother passing to him when they don't trust he will do anything with it.

for me Gray is looking a little like a bystander

Hopefully Bissouma is currently negotiating a move and we’ve got a Wharton level replacement coming in, as Gray looks like he might need a season out on loan to learn how to play CMF and we’ll need someone to give Paulinha a breather when CL starts.

None of our midfielders are imposing themselves on the game when we have the ball. Leaving Romero and Porro to do all the work.

Romero should have done better in several situations, but the players ahead of him aren't giving him good options. And the midfielders aren't taking responsibility on the ball.

To be fair an exceptionally young midfield trio, first game of the season.

Not sure what Gray's skillset is. He looked good against Saudi Sportswashing Machine playing higher up. I don't see all that much defensive nous.
